SiPM Characterization Based on Signal Temporal Distribution Extraction With Event-Refreshed TDC

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
This paper presents an efficient method for measuring multiple performance parameters of single-photon detectors (SPDs), based on the extraction of signal temporal distribution using an event-refreshed time-to-digital converter (ER-TDC).

Cerebellar Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation in the Theta Band Prevents Recall of the Initial Fear Association After Extinction Training

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 8, June 1, 2026.
In this 3 T fMRI study, 6 Hz cerebellar transcranial alternating current stimulation (ctACS) was applied to modulate cerebellar function during extinction training in healthy participants. ctACS applied during extinction training reduced spontaneous fear recovery during recall.

Chronic Pain: Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, and Clinical Management

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
The multidimensional nature of chronic pain is illustrated through four interconnected domains. (Left) Epidemiology and Global Burden: Chronic pain affects approximately one in five individuals globally, contributing to a rising trend in disability‐adjusted life years (YLDs) and a significant socioeconomic impact.

Efficient random number generation techniques for CMOS single-photon avalanche diode array exploiting fast time tagging units

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
This work presents a technique to produce random bits by exploiting single-photon time of arrival. Two quantum random number generator (QRNG) devices based on the field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology are presented: Randy, which uses one ...

Imaging gas in a combustion engine with high‐energy X‐ray Compton scattering

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 788-793, May 2026.
Compton‐scattering imaging has been applied to a combustion engine under operation for the first time. With a time‐resolved technique, a crank‐angle dependency of Compton‐scattered X‐ray intensity is obtained at different positions in a combustion chamber. We have developed a time‐resolved Compton‐scattering imaging technique for visualizing gas ...

A Hybrid-Domain Two-Step Time-to-Digital Converter Using a Switch-Based Time-to-Voltage Converter and SAR ADC

open access: yes, 2015
In this brief, an energy-efficient time-to-digital converter (TDC) using a hybrid of time-and voltage-domain circuits is presented. The proposed TDC operates in two steps, i.e., first in the time domain by using a delay-line TDC and then in the voltage ...

rTMS Suppresses Tobacco Craving via Enhanced Prefronto‐Striato‐Thalamic Connectivity

open access: yesAddiction Biology, Volume 31, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of rTMS on tobacco use disorder (TUD). The findings demonstrated that participants with TUD exhibited reduced cigarette cravings following treatment, accompanied by a reorganization of the prefrontal–striatal pathway and enhanced top‐down cognitive control.

Repeated Disuse Atrophy Imprints a Molecular Memory in Skeletal Muscle: Transcriptional Resilience in Young Adults and Susceptibility in Aged Muscle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 23, 23 April 2026.
Repeated disuse imprints a molecular memory in skeletal muscle, conferring transcriptional resilience in young adults but exaggerated susceptibility in aged muscle, driven by epigenetic regulation of aerobic metabolism, mitochondrial and NAD+ pathways.
