Chitosan Nanoparticles for Prolonged Delivery of Timolol Maleate
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2007Timolol maleate-loaded chitosan (CS) nanoparticles were prepared by desolvation method. Experimental variables such as molecular weight of CS and amount of crosslinking agent were varied to study their effect on drug entrapment efficiency, size and release rates of nanoparticles.

To compare systemic absorption of three formulations of timolol eye drops: 0.1% timolol maleate gel, 0.5% timolol aqueous solution, and 0.5% timolol maleate gel. This was a double cross-over phase I study. Cross-over 1: two weeks of 0.1% timolol gel once daily, followed by a 3-week wash-out period and then two weeks of 0.5% timolol aqueous solution ...

TIMOLOL MALEATE IN TREATMENT OF OPEN ANGLE GLAUCOMA
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1979The effect of Timolol maleate on the intraocular pressure in open angle glaucoma has been examined in 37 patients, of these simple glaucoma in 26 (48 eyes), capsular glaucoma in 9 (14 eyes) and chronic secondary glaucoma in 2 patients (2 eyes). These cases constituded a group which was relatively difficult to manage. The average pressure reduction ...

A randomized, double-masked trial of various concentrations of timolol maleate ophthalmic solution (0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5%, and 1.0%) vs placebo demonstrated that all concentrations of timolol effectively lowered intraocular pressure (IOP). A 0.5% solution of timolol was as effective in reducing IOP as the 1.0% concentration.
