Extraction of Collagen from Tissues
Nature, 1955IN the course of some estimations of deoxyribo-nucleic acid by Schneider's method1, we observed incidentally that the hot trichloroacetic acid extraction of the tissue removed the collagen almost completely, judged by estimations of hydroxyproline on the hydrolysates of the solubilized and insoluble material.

Ctenophore Tissue Preparation and Extraction of DNA
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2008INTRODUCTIONCtenophores, or comb jellies, are a group of marine animals whose unique biological features and phylogenetic placement make them a key taxon for understanding animal evolution. Some characteristics are present in nearly all ctenophores, including biradial symmetry, comb rows composed of linked cilia, an apical sensory organ, and two ...

Plant Tissue Extraction for Metabolomics
2013Plants are not only important producers of foods and energy storages (e.g., sugars, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) in the form of grains, fruits, and vegetables, they also provide many valuable products to human existence including wood, fibers, oils, resins, pigments, antioxidants, and sources of medicine.

Extraction of DNA from plastinated tissues
Forensic Science International, 2020Plastination allows anatomical samples to be preserved in excellent condition for an indefinite period, free of formalin, and in a format that allows biosafe manipulation by students, academics, and researchers. As with other tissue preservation techniques, it is important to establish the level of conservation of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) for use in

DEPRESSOR EFFECT OF TISSUE EXTRACTS THE DEPRESSOR EFFECT OF CERTAIN TISSUE EXTRACTS
Endocrinology, 1926In 1896 Schafer and Moore (1) while investigating the contractility of the spleen, noted that a fall of blood pressure usually followed the injection of brain extracts, and in 1899 Mott and Halliburton (2) suggested that the active substancewas choline.

The determination of polyvinylpyrrolidone in tissue extracts
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1961Abstract A method is described for the quantitative determination of polyvinylpyrrolidone in tissue extracts. It is possible to determine quantities of 0.5 mg of polyvinylpyrrolidone present in 1000 mg of tissue. The results are reasonably exact.

Mycoplasmacidal Action of Normal Tissue Extracts
Nature, 1969WHILE studying experimental infection with various mycoplasmas, we found that concentrated homogenates of infected animal tissues sometimes yielded negative cultures, while higher dilutions of the same homogenates were positive. Further examination revealed the presence of a mycoplasmacidal factor in extracts of normal tissues, which appears during ...
