Mixed lineage kinase 3 mediates SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury via the Hsp70‐IL‐17A axis
Interdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.Kidney samples from patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) showed upregulated expression and activity of Mixed Lineage Kinase (MLK3). Based on the mechanistic studies, we identified MLK3 as a critical player in promoting SARS‐CoV‐2‐induced kidney injury.Sandeep Kumar, Sunil Kumar Singh, Piush Srivastava, Sowdhamini Mahendiran, Rakesh Sathish Nair, Harsh Vyas, Saket Jha, Niraj Nag, Navin Viswakarma, Hitesh Kapoor, Swathi Suresh, Periannan Sethupathi, Sang‐Ging Ong, Jerrold S. Journal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Background and Objectives
While tranexamic acid (TXA) reduces blood loss in orthopedic surgery, thromboembolic concerns in cancer patients have limited adoption in orthopedic oncology. This study evaluated TXA efficacy and safety in patients undergoing endoprosthetic reconstruction for oncologic indications.Stephen W. Chenard, Akhil Rekulapelli, Riley S. Gilbertson, Connor S. VIEW, EarlyView.Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.A. M. World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.ABSTRACT Introduction
Previous studies have demonstrated that chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is characterized by excessive fibrin deposition which is related to impaired production of tissue plasminogen activator(t‐PA) by epithelial cells.Qian‐Qian Zhang, Chen Zhang, Jia‐Ni Chen, Fu‐Ying Cheng, Yi‐Zhang Wang, Shi‐Rui Xue, Huan Wang, De‐Hui Wang, Xi‐Cai Sun, Li Hu +9 morewiley +1 more sourceInternational Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Patients With Hereditary Angioedema
Allergy, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
Hereditary angioedema (HAE) with C1 inhibitor deficiency is a rare disease characterized by unpredictable episodes of tissue swelling (angioedema), which, in most cases, occur first under the age of 18 years, and entail a significant burden of disease not only for the patients but also for their families.Henriette Farkas, Inmaculada Martinez‐Saguer, Konrad Bork, Anastasios E. Allergy, EarlyView. We conducted a post hoc analysis of ATLANTIS, a multinational prospective study including 684 adults with asthma. Fewer small airway symptoms and lower disease activity are independently associated with asthma remission. Replicated airway transcriptomic signatures show increased IL‐4/13 signalling and reduced coagulation pathways across the ATLANTIS ...Akshi Kumar, Rory Chan, Nazanin Zounemat‐Kermani, Eleanor Quek, Ian M. Allergy, EarlyView.IL‐33 induces inflammatory gene signatures in eosinophils, characterised by the upregulation of cell surface markers, inflammatory mediators and regulatory factors, all of which were also observed in nasal polyp‐derived eosinophils. Ox‐LDL and complement fragments (C3a and C5a) promote eosinophil adhesion and survival.Emiko Matsuyama, Jun Miyata, Takao Mochimaru, Ryuta Onozato, Yo Otsu, Hisashi Sasaki, Keeya Sunata, Shinichi Okuzumi, Katsunori Masaki, Hiroki Kabata, Keinosuke Hizuka, Yoshinori Hasegawa, Ryo Konno, Yusuke Kawashima, Makoto Arita, Shigeharu Ueki, Koichi Fukunaga +16 morewiley +1 more source
