Human Tumor Antigens Tn and Sialyl Tn Arise from Mutations in Cosmc

Cancer Research, 2008
Abstract Neoplastic lesions typically express specific carbohydrate antigens on glycolipids, mucins, and other glycoproteins. Such antigens are often under epigenetic control and are subject to reversion and loss upon therapeutic selective pressure.

Synthesis of Sulfur-Containing Analogues of ΑGalNAc (Tn-Antigen) and ΒGal1,3ΑGalNAc (T-Antigen)

Monatshefte f?r Chemie / Chemical Monthly, 2002
A method for the preparation of thio-analogues of the T- and Tn-antigen was developed. Thus, starting from a known N-acetamido-glucoside derivative, the epidithio analogue of the Tn-antigen was accessible in a four-step reaction sequence. The corresponding epidithio analogue and the thioanhydro derivative of the T-antigen were synthesized starting from

TN, A General Carcinoma-Associated Antigen

1985
Abstract Tn antigen, the immediate precursor in the biosynthesis of T (Thomsen-Friedenreich) antigen does not occur in immunoreactive form in healthy tissues. However, we found it in about 90% of all primary carcinomas (CAs) and their metastases, as well as in the two T lymphomas studied. Thus, Tn is a CA-associated antigen.

Expression of Tn, sialosyl-Tn, and T antigens in human colon cancer.

Cancer research, 1989
Mucin glycoproteins are major secretory products of the colon and contain O-linked oligosaccharides synthesized on a polypeptide backbone. The initial step in the synthesis of O-linked oligosaccharides is the addition of N-acetylgalactosamine to serine or threonine residues forming the Tn antigen. This substance can then receive additional carbohydrate

Expression of Tn and sialyl Tn antigens in synovial tissues in rheumatoid arthritis.

Clinical and experimental rheumatology, 2010
The carbohydrate chains represented by mucins (MUCs) are expressed by a variety of normal and malignant secretory epithelial cells and induce a variety of immunoreactions. Tn and sialyl Tn antigens are tumour-associated carbohydrate antigens which are borne on the core proteins of mucins.
