Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of Hexokinase Gene Family Under Abiotic Stress in Tomato

open access: yesPlants
In plants, hexokinase (HXK) is a kind of bifunctional enzyme involved in sugar metabolism and sugar signal transduction that plays important roles in plant growth and development and stress response. Some HXK genes without a phosphorylation function have

Phytophthora Disrupts Plant Immunity by Manipulating Nitric Oxide Homeostasis Through GSNOR Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phytophthora capsici effector PcRD18 targets tomato GSNOR to disrupt NO homeostasis, promoting S‐nitrosylation of immune proteins like RBOHD. This suppresses ROS bursts and promotes pathogen infection. Mutation of the PcRD18‐binding sites of GSNOR avoids pathogen manipulation and offers a strategy to enhance crop resistance. Abstract Nitric oxide (NO),

Subgenome Dominance in Allotetraploid Actinidia valvata Regulates RNA m6A Modification for Waterlogging Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The waterlogging tolerance of allotetraploid Actinidia valvata is inherited from one of its diploid progenitors, which leads to subgenome expression dominance, mediated by complex mechanisms including altered chromatin accessibility and DNA methylation.

A Generative AI‐Assisted Piezo‐MEMS Ultrasound Device for Plant Dehydration Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS)‐compatible wearable piezoelectric micromachined ultrasound transducers (PMUTs) that sandwiches the leaf (PMUT–Leaf–PMUT, PLP) and employs generative artificial intelligence for real‐time analysis.

A SEPALLATA MADS-Box Transcription Factor, SlMBP21, Functions as a Negative Regulator of Flower Number and Fruit Yields in Tomato

open access: yesPlants
MADS-box transcription factors act as the crucial regulators in plant organ differentiation. Crop yields are highly influenced by the flower number and fruit growth. However, flower identification is a very complex biological process, which involves many

Evaluation of Resistance to Ralstonia solanacearum in Tomato Genetic Resources at Seedling Stage

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2016
Bacterial wilt of tomatoes caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is a devastating disease that limits the production of tomato in Korea. The best way to control this disease is using genetically resistant tomato plant. The resistance degree to R. solanacearum

A New Quality Parameter in Tomato and Tomato Products: Ergosterol

open access: yesCritical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, 2004
The poor precision of the "percentage of discarded fruits" and "Howard mold count" methods has increased the importance of ergosterol for the microbiological quality evaluation of tomato and tomato products. Ergosterol, a constituent of the cell wall of some important vegetable parasites, such as molds, has been recently recognized as a potential ...

Co‐Selection of Low Cadmium Accumulation and High Yield During Tomato Improvement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study finds that large‐fruited tomatoes accumulate less cadmium (Cd) compared to wild tomatoes and cherry tomatoes. This is because, during the improvement process of tomato, the low‐Cd allele LCT1A and the large fruit allele fw3.2T are closely linked, leading to a co‐selection event.

Manipulating Unisexual–Sexual Reproduction Transition to Engineer Genome‐Reconstructed Polyploids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed an efficient approach to generate genome‐reconstructed polyploids involving unisexual gynogenetic Carassius gibelio, sexual C. auratus, and sexual C. cuvieri. The selected superior clone inherited gynogenesis ability of C. gibelio and herpesvirus resistance of wild C.
