Topological Charges of Periodically Kicked Molecules

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
We show that the simplest of existing molecules -- closed-shell diatomics not interacting with one another -- host topological charges when driven by periodic far-off-resonant laser pulses. A periodically kicked molecular rotor can be mapped onto a ''crystalline'' lattice in angular momentum space.

P6322-type SrNiIO6: An ideal half-metallic candidate with a fully spin-polarized Weyl complex

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
Researchers are interested in magnetic topological materials because they can integrate magnetic and topological properties. Using the first-principles calculations, we identify the P6322-type SrNiIO6 as a dynamically stable half-metallic candidate with ...

Topological electric charge [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1995
By treating magnetic charge as a gauge symmetry through the introduction of a ``magnetic'' pseudo four-vector potential, it is shown that it is possible, using the 't Hooft-Polyakov construction, to obtain a topological electric charge. The mass of this electrically charged particle is found to be on the order of {1 / 137} M_W as opposed to the much ...

Interferometric schemes: a probe for topological edge states, a tool in weak measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the first part of this thesis we propose interferometric schemes to probe the properties of edge states of topological insulators and superconductors.

Effects of spin symmetry breaking in topological insulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Topological insulators are one of the most thoroughly investigated systems in condensed matter physics over the last years. In these systems, a prominent role is inevitably taken by time-reversal symmetry, which leads to Kramers theorem and symmetry ...

Towards a quantum theory of solitons

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
We formulate a quantum coherent state picture for topological and non-topological solitons. We recognize that the topological charge arises from the infinite occupation number of zero momentum quanta flowing in one direction.

Charge and the topology of spacetime [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 1999
A new class of electrically charged wormholes is described in which the outer two sphere is not spanned by a compact coorientable hypersurface. These wormholes can therefore display net electric charge from the source free Maxwell's equation. This extends the work of Sorkin on non-space orientable manifolds, to spacetimes which do not admit a time ...

Topological charges of noncommutative soliton [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2001
The noncommutative soliton is characterized by the use of the projection operators in non-commutative space. By using the close relation with the K-theory of $C^*$-algebra, we consider the variations of projection operators along the commutative directions and identify their topological charges.

Topological charges of fullerenes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Chemistry, 2022
AbstractWe defined the topological charge and bump number for fullerenes. All even fullerene isomers from $$C_{20}$$ C 20 up to $$C_{70}$$ C 70 were constructed ...
