Topological Charges of Periodically Kicked Molecules

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2023
We show that the simplest of existing molecules -- closed-shell diatomics not interacting with one another -- host topological charges when driven by periodic far-off-resonant laser pulses. A periodically kicked molecular rotor can be mapped onto a ''crystalline'' lattice in angular momentum space.

Topological electric charge [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1995
By treating magnetic charge as a gauge symmetry through the introduction of a ``magnetic'' pseudo four-vector potential, it is shown that it is possible, using the 't Hooft-Polyakov construction, to obtain a topological electric charge. The mass of this electrically charged particle is found to be on the order of {1 / 137} M_W as opposed to the much ...

A charge-density-wave topological semimetal [PDF]

open access: yesNature Physics, 2021
Topological physics and strong electron-electron correlations in quantum materials are typically studied independently. However, there have been rapid recent developments in quantum materials in which topological phase transitions emerge when the single-particle band structure is modified by strong interactions.

Perfect Lattice Topology: The Quantum Rotor as a Test Case [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Lattice actions and topological charges that are classically and quantum mechanically perfect (i.e. free of lattice artifacts) are constructed analytically for the quantum rotor.

Topological charges of fullerenes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Chemistry, 2022
AbstractWe defined the topological charge and bump number for fullerenes. All even fullerene isomers from $$C_{20}$$ C 20 up to $$C_{70}$$ C 70 were constructed ...

Towards a quantum theory of solitons

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
We formulate a quantum coherent state picture for topological and non-topological solitons. We recognize that the topological charge arises from the infinite occupation number of zero momentum quanta flowing in one direction.

Colorful vortex intersections in SU(2) lattice gauge theory and their influences on chiral properties

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
We introduce topological non-trivial colorful regions around intersection points of two perpendicular vortex pairs and investigate their influence on topological charge density and eigenmodes of the Dirac operator.

The local structure of topological charge fluctuations in QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We introduce the Dirac eigenmode filtering of topological charge density associated with Ginsparg-Wilson fermions as a tool to investigate the local structure of topological charge fluctuations in QCD.

Tight Focusing of Circular Partially Coherent Radially Polarized Circular Airy Vortex Beam

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The tight focusing properties of circular partially coherent radially polarized circular Airy vortex beams (CPCRPCAVBs) are theoretically studied in this paper.
