Topological acoustic triple point

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The topological characteristics of acoustic phonons with triple degeneracy remain largely unexplored. Here, the authors propose a topological acoustic triple point characterized by a topological charge in a three-band system with PT symmetry.

On Measuring the Topological Charge of Anyons

open access: yesProblems of Information Transmission
In this paper we discuss the principles of measuring topological charge or representation traveling in the set of anyons. We describe the procedure and analyze how it works for the different values of parameters of the theory. We also show how it can be modified to be more effective for different levels of Chern-Simons theory.

Topological Charge of Noncommutative ADHM Instanton [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2003
We analytically calculate the topological charge of general noncommutative U (N) instantons using the Corrigan's identity and find that the result is exactly the instanton number k, which appears in the noncommutative ADHM construction as the dimension of the vector space V. This result coincides with the corresponding fact in the commutative case.

Charge conservation protected topological phases

open access: yes, 2013
We discuss the relation between particle number conservation and topological phases. In four spatial dimensions, we find that systems belonging to different topological phases in the presence of a U(1) charge conservation can be connected adiabatically ...

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Topological charge of asymmetric optical vortices

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
We obtain theoretical relationships to define topological charge (TC) of vortex laser beams devoid of radial symmetry, namely asymmetric Laguerre-Gaussian (LG), asymmetric Bessel-Gaussian (BG), and asymmetric Kummer beams, as well as Hermite-Gaussian (HG) vortex beams.

Exchange-biasing topological charges by antiferromagnetism [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
AbstractGeometric Hall effect is induced by the emergent gauge field experienced by the carriers adiabatically passing through certain real-space topological spin textures, which is a probe to non-trivial spin textures, such as magnetic skyrmions. We report experimental indications of spin-texture topological charges induced in heterostructures of a ...

Superuniversality from disorder at two-dimensional topological phase transitions

open access: yes, 2020
We investigate the effects of quenched randomness on topological quantum phase transitions in strongly interacting two-dimensional systems. We focus first on transitions driven by the condensation of a subset of fractionalized quasiparticles (“anyons ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Laughlin charge pumping from interplay of chiral Dirac and chiral Majorana modes

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Laughlin charge pumping has provided critical insights into the topological classification of individual materials, but remains largely unexplored in topological junctions.
