Interventional oncology in children: Where are we now?
Abstract Paediatric Interventional Oncology (IO) lags behind adult IO due to a scarcity of specific outcome data. The suboptimal way to evolve this field is relying heavily on adult experiences. The distinct tumour types prevalent in children, such as extracranial germ cell tumours, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma, differ strongly from those found in ...

Response to carboplatin +/− topotecan-containing ophthalmic artery chemosurgery (OAC).
Representative case. Left: Reese-Ellsworth Group VB (IC D) left eye prior to treatment Right: Same eye following three OAC cycles consisting of carboplatin and topotecan. Note dramatic response of tumors following carboplatin/topotecan therapy.

Pharmacologic topoisomerase-I inhibition causes DNA damage and mortality in activated CD4+ T cells
Topoisomerase-I is required for DNA replication. It acts by preventing torsional stress caused by DNA winding during replication fork progression. Topoisomerase-I inhibitors are widely used in many cancer therapies, in light of their anti-proliferative ...

A guide to transcriptional cyclin‐dependent kinases in cancer
Transcriptional cyclin‐dependent‐kinases (tCDKs) facilitate gene expression by promoting RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) progression through discrete phases of the transcription cycle. Aberrant tCDK activity is detectable in different human cancers, thereby contributing to de‐regulated gene expression programs that drive oncogenic phenotypes.

Abstract figure legend Temporal scaling physiology differs significantly between mice and humans. Mice have higher metabolism, heart and respiratory rate, as well as faster blood flow rates, brain activity and physiological dynamics over time. These differences influence the temporal resolution needed in preclinical imaging of mouse models to ...

Objectives Synthetic data may proxy clinical data. At the absence of direct clinical data, this study aimed to compare Irinotecan and Ifosfamide (II) with Topotecan in synthetic, recurrent small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients within a simulated ...

Schedule-Dependent Antiangiogenic and Cytotoxic Effects of Chemotherapy on Vascular Endothelial and Retinoblastoma Cells. [PDF]
Current treatment of retinoblastoma involves using the maximum dose of chemotherapy that induces tumor control and is tolerated by patients. The impact of dose and schedule on the cytotoxicity of chemotherapy has not been studied.

ABSTRACT Background Embryonal tumors comprise the majority of malignant central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms diagnosed in children under 3 years of age. Compared with their counterparts in older children, these tumors exhibit distinct molecular biology and a more aggressive clinical phenotype, while their management is complicated by the heightened ...
