This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Dual-motor electric drive axles (e-axles) can realize basic torque vectoring through motor-torque allocation. However, without an inter-wheel power-transfer path, they still face structural limitations under motor torque–speed envelopes and severe left ...

Torqued and anti-torqued vector fields on hyperbolic spaces
In this paper, we study the existence of torqued and anti-torqued vector fields on the hyperbolic ambient space Hn. Although there are examples of proper torqued vector fields on open subsets of Hn, we prove that there is not a proper torqued vector field globally defined on Hn.

Torque Vectoring In Electric Vehicles [PDF]
Torque Vectoring is defined as a mechanical and control system designed to induce a yaw-moment in an automobile using longitudinal tractive effort, either from the drivetrain or braking systems, where Positive Torque Vectoring uses the drivetrain only ...

Asymmetry in Skipping Enhances Viability Against Control Input Noise
Quadruped animals use asymmetric galloping gaits at high speeds, yet the functional role of this asymmetry remains unclear. This study shows that left–right asymmetry in touchdown angles enhances robustness to control noise. Using a simple two‐legged locomotion model and viability theory, it demonstrates that asymmetric skipping substantially enlarges ...

Energy efficient torque vectoring for electric vehicles with multiple drivetrains [PDF]
The benefits of individual wheel torque control, or torque vectoring, in terms of vehicle dynamics behaviour have been well documented in the literature.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.
