Torsemide: A new loop diuretic
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1995The pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy, adverse effects, and dosage and administration of torsemide are reviewed. Torsemide belongs to the pyridine-sulfonylurea class of loop diuretics. Its primary site of activity is the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, where it blocks active reabsorption of sodium and chloride, resulting in ...

Torsemide inhibits aldosterone secretion in vitro
Life Sciences, 1998Torsemide inhibited aldosterone secretion by adrenal cells from rats, cows, and guinea pigs stimulated in vitro by potassium, angiotensin, dibutyryl cyclic AMP, ACTH, or corticosterone. Inhibitory concentrations for adrenal cells (micromolar) were comparable with those reported to inhibit ion transport in isolated renal tubules.

Evaluation of the effect of torsemide on warfarin dosage requirements
International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy, 2017Background According to drug interaction databases, torsemide may potentiate the effects of warfarin. Evidence for this drug-drug interaction, however, is conflicting and the clinical significance is unknown. Objective The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of torsemide initiation on warfarin dosage requirements.

Probable Interaction Between Warfarin and Torsemide
Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2008Objective: To report a case in which the anticoagulation effect of warfarin appeared to be potentiated by torsemide, possibly due to an interference of metabolism through competition for the CYP2C9 isoenzyme and protein-binding displacement of warfarin ...
