Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1993The bioavailability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of torsemide (10 mg orally and intravenously) were determined in a randomized crossover clinical trial with 12 patients with ascites caused by cirrhosis. Torsemide was rapidly absorbed with a bioavailability of 96.3% (confidence interval, 84% to 109%).

The National Medical Journal of India, 2018Mild hypokalaemia is a common electrolyte abnormality following therapeutic doses of diuretics such as torsemide. If undiagnosed and untreated, hypokalaemia progresses and smooth muscle, skeletal muscle and the heart are affected. Potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone are commonly added to loop diuretics to prevent symptomatic hypokalaemia.
