Bottom‐Up Engineering of a Human Neuromuscular System for Modeling Activity‐Induced Remodeling, Metabolic Stress, and Endothelial‐Modulated Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using a bottom‐up approach, we engineered a human neuromuscular microchip to investigate distinct adaptive responses to neural stimulation and metabolic stress. Further integration of endothelial cells revealed their critical role in modulating neuromuscular excitability, establishing a comprehensive neurovascular‐muscular model.

Drosophila HP1c is regulated by an auto-regulatory feedback loop through its binding partner Woc [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
HP1 is a major component of chromatin and regulates gene expression through its binding to methylated histone H3. Most eukaryotes express at least three isoforms of HP1 with similar domain architecture.

Novel domains and orthologues of eukaryotic transcription elongation factors

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2002
The passage of RNA polymerase II across eukaryotic genes is impeded by the nucleosome, an octamer of histones H2A, H2B, H3 and H4 dimers. More than a dozen factors in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae are known to facilitate transcription elongation through chromatin.

Transcription Elongation Factor GreA Has Functional Chaperone Activity

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Bacterial GreA is an indispensable factor in the RNA polymerase elongation complex. It plays multiple roles in transcriptional elongation, and may be implicated in resistance to various stresses. In this study, we show that Escherichia coli GreA inhibits aggregation of several substrate proteins under heat shock condition.

Iterative Selection of DNA Nanostructures for Cellular Uptake

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
DNA nanostructures are promising cell targeting delivery vehicles for therapeutics, but the targeting behavior is not fully understood. In this study, libraries of DNA nanostructures that can be amplified and sequenced are combined with cellular uptake as a selection pressure to iteratively refine DNA structures taken up in cells to better understand ...

elongation

open access: yes, 2016
elongation.csv - 'Plot_nr' shows plot number - 'Plot' shows treatment, 'contr' = control, 'new' = short-term manipulation (1 yr), 'old' = long-term manipulation (11 yrs) - 'individual' shoot elongation (growth) is measured on 5 individuals per plot ...

The RhoA transcriptional program in pre-T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The GTPase RhoA is essential for the development of pre-T cells in the thymus. To investigate the mechanisms used by RhoA to control thymocyte development we have used Affymetrix gene profiling to identify RhoA regulated genes in T cell progenitors.

Fabrication of Aligned Polycaprolactone Nanofibrillar Bundles to Control Cell‐Mediated Collagen Deposition in Engineered Cartilage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Melt electrofibrillation (MEF) enables the fabrication of nanofibrillar PCL scaffolds with defined architectures that guide cellular alignment and retention during cartilage tissue engineering. Unlike conventional melt electrowriting, MEF consistently directs collagen type II‐rich extracellular matrix organization, providing a tunable platform to ...

Structure of a transcribing Pol II-DSIF-SPT6-U1 snRNP complex

open access: yesNature Communications
In eukaryotic cells, splicing occurs predominantly co-transcriptionally, enhancing splicing efficiency and fidelity while introducing an additional layer of regulation over gene expression.

Transcription-driven chromatin repression of Intragenic transcription start sites.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2019
Progression of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription relies on the appropriately positioned activities of elongation factors. The resulting profile of factors and chromatin signatures along transcription units provides a "positional information system"
