Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Temporality and technical, psychic and collective individuations in the work of Simondon

open access: yesTrilogía Ciencia Tecnología Sociedad, 2012
temporality and technical, psychic and collective individuations in the work of Simondon. Simondon describes technical artefacts as possessing a tendency towards increasing organisation, in a process of individuation.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Interaction of bacteriophage P1 with an epiphytic Pantoea agglomerans strain—the role of the interplay between various mobilome elements

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
P1 is a model, temperate bacteriophage of the 94 kb genome. It can lysogenize representatives of the Enterobacterales order. In lysogens, it is maintained as a plasmid. We tested P1 interactions with the biocontrol P.

CRISPR-Cas-Mediated Phage Resistance Enhances Horizontal Gene Transfer by Transduction

open access: yesmBio, 2018
A powerful contributor to prokaryotic evolution is horizontal gene transfer (HGT) through transformation, conjugation, and transduction, which can be advantageous, neutral, or detrimental to fitness.

Establishment and Application of Engineered NIH 3T3 Cell Line with Stable Human RAGE Expression

open access: yesPharmaceutical Fronts, 2020
Aim NIH3T3 cell line with expression of human receptor for advanced glycation end-products (hRAGE) transduced with lentivirus vectors was used to analyze affinity, biological activity, and/or molecular mechanisms of molecules targeting the hRAGE pathway.

Impact of an electric field on P-type ATPases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
P-type ATPases are membrane proteins acting as ion pumps that drive an active transport of cations across the membrane against a concentration gradient. The required energy for the ion transport is provided by binding and hydrolysis of ATP.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Inside-outside: 3-D music through tissue conduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Eliciting an auditory perception by means of mechanical transduction bypassing the peripheral hearing apparatus has been recorded as early as the 16th century.
