Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Anticancer drug delivery with transferrin targeted polymeric chitosan vesicles [PDF]
The study reports the initial biological evaluation of targeted polymeric glycol chitosan vesicles as carrier systems for doxorubicin (Dox). Transferrin (Tf) was covalently bound to the Dox-loaded palmitoylated glycol chitosan (GCP) vesicles using ...

An Improved Method for Quick Quantification of Unsaturated Transferrin
Blood iron levels play a vital role in oxygen metabolism and energy generation whilst transporter protein, transferrin, binds and delivers iron to the transferrin receptor of endosomal compartments of cells.

Biochemical, Biophysical, and Cellular Investigations of the Interactions of Transferrin Receptor with Transferrin and the Hereditary Hemochromatosis Protein, HFE [PDF]
Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is a prevalent genetic disorder that results in the daily excess absorption of dietary iron. If untreated this disease leads to systemic organ failure and death. HH is caused by mutations to the gene coding for a protein

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Prognostic role of transferrin saturation in heart failure patients
Abstract Aims In heart failure (HF) iron deficiency (ID) is frequently observed and represents a major mortality risk factor. Purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between mortality and ID in a cohort of 661 consecutive patients hospitalized for HF worsening.
