An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

The role of the austenite grain size in the martensitic transformation in low carbon steels

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
There is sufficient experimental evidence to propose that the formation kinetics of athermal martensite directly depends on the austenite grain structure from which the martensite forms. Yet, this dependence is frequently ignored.

Continuous Cooling Transformation Behaviour and Bainite Transformation Kinetics of 23CrNi3Mo Carburised Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2020
In this study, the phase transformation behaviour of the carburised layer and the matrix of 23CrNi3Mo steel was comparatively investigated by constructing continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagram, determining the volume fraction of retained ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

THE KINETICS OF AUSTENITE TRANSFORMATION IN THE RAIL STEEL GRADES M74 AND 75 ХГСМ DURING CONTINUOUS COOLING

open access: yesNauka ta progres transportu, 2009
The particularities of the shaping of microstructure of rail steels of marks М74 and 75ХГСМ under continuous cooling with different velocities from austenite interval of temperature are described; the temperature borders of the areas of phase ...

Effects of Stress State and Microstructure on Deformation-Induced Transformation and Ageing in Medium-Manganese TRIP Steels

open access: yesMetals
This study examines the mechanical response of medium-manganese TRIP steels under different stress states, focusing on deformation-induced austenite-to-martensite transformation and ageing phenomena. Two steels with distinctly different ferrite–austenite

Absence of a dose-rate effect in the transformation of C3H 10T1/2 cells by α-particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The findings of Hill et al. (1984) on the greatly enhanced transformation frequencies at very low dose rates of fission neutrons induced us to perform an analogous study with -particles at comparable dose rates. Transformation frequencies were determined

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

A Balance Principle Approach for Modeling Phase Transformation Kinetics

open access: yes, 1995
A balance principle is offered to model volume fraction kinetics of phase transformation kinetics at a continuum level. This microbalance provides a differential equation for transformation kinetics which is coupled to the differential equations ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
