Effect of Heating Rate on the Kinetics of Martensitic Transformation of Ni-Ti-Hf alloys using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research
The transformation martensite-austenite and Kinetics in Ni-Ti-Hf shape memory alloys (SMAs) were calculated for the first time. The Johnson- Mehl – Avrami- Komogorov (JMAK) equation was used to simulate the transformation Martensite- Austenite, which ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Austenite Formation Kinetics of Dual-Phase Steels: Insights from a Mixed-Control Model Under Different Heating Conditions

open access: yesModelling
A semi-analytical mixed-control model based on the Non-Partitioned Local Equilibrium (NPLE) assumption was developed to simulate the austenite phase transformation kinetics during heating and isothermal processes. The model was validated by comparing the

Method to Evaluate the Kinetics of Bainite Transformation in Low-Temperature Nanobainitic Steel Using Thermal Dilatation Curve Analysis

open access: yesMetals, 2017
The aim of this work was to develop a method to evaluate the kinetics of bainite transformation by theoretical deduction and thermal dilatation curve analysis. A Gleeble-3500 thermomechanical simulator and dilatometer (DIL805A) were employed to study the

Transformation hardening and kinetics for stress assisted and temperature driven martensitic transformation in steels

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceIn the present study a new phase fraction based transformation hardening and further a stress and temperature dependent transformation kinetics following the postulates in internal variable thermodynamics is presented. The generally

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Modeling of Phase Transformation Kinetics of Plain Carbon Steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A mathematical model have been generated which incorporates the concept of isothermal/isokinetic steps in close association with the cooling curve to predict the transformation kinetics under continuous cooling conditions.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

TRANSFORMATION KINETICS FOR NUCLEATION ON RANDOM PLANES AND LINES

open access: yesImage Analysis & Stereology, 2011
Birth and growth processes are known in materials science as nucleation and growth processes. In crystalline materials nucleation almost always takes place in an internal crystalline defect. These defects are classified according to their dimensionality: point, line or planar defects.
