A transient receptor potential channel expressed in taste receptor cells

open access: yesNature Neuroscience, 2002
We used differential screening of cDNAs from individual taste receptor cells to identify candidate taste transduction elements in mice. Among the differentially expressed clones, one encoded Trpm5, a member of the mammalian family of transient receptor potential (TRP) channels.

Transient Receptor Potential Channels and Dermatological Disorders

open access: yesCurrent Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Transient receptor potential (TRP) cation channels are an emerging field of research in dermatology. Beyond their classical role in skin sensory perception, TRPs are involved in various cutaneous functions that include keratinocyte differentiation, apoptosis and melanocyte pigmentation.

Transient receptor potential channelopathies

Pflügers Archiv - European Journal of Physiology, 2010
In the past years, several hereditary diseases caused by defects in transient receptor potential channels (TRP) genes have been described. This review summarizes our current knowledge about TRP channelopathies and their possible pathomechanisms. Based on available genetic indications, we will also describe several putative pathological conditions in ...

Transient Receptor Potential A1 Modulators

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2011
TRPA1 is a member of a superfamily of non-selective cation channels that is known to be involved in multiple physiological functions. TRPA1 is activated by a broad spectrum of chemical irritants and endogenous inflammatory compounds. An emerging role for TRPA1 in mediating pain and inflammation raises the possibility that compounds targeting TRPA1 ...
