The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Translation Errors on Public Place Signboards: An Error Analysis and Translation Strategies Applied [PDF]

open access: yesSeminar Nasional Struktural 2018, 2018
Translation has been used by people for centuries. Translation is now used in so many aspects, such as economy, business, technology, and health. Translation is changing a meaning from one language to another language. The purpose of translation is to convey the original tone and intent of a message, taking into account cultural and regional ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ERRORS IN TRANSLATION DIDACTICS [PDF]

open access: yes
This article aims to shed light on the importance of errors in the field of translation didactics, since it has been widely recognized as an efficacious pedagogical instrument for teaching translation. In this context, we will emphasize the significance

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

An analysis of the role of micro and macro levels in rendering some standard Arabic proverbs into English [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis was inspired by my MA Dissertation back in (2007). This dissertation dealt with 'situationality'. After a couple of years, there was a need to explore other aspects of translation.

Error analysis of translation outputs of the Siswati-English Linguistic Translation Tool

open access: yesCogent Arts & Humanities
The development of machine translation (MT) systems for low-resourced languages in South Africa, such as Siswati, is crucial for bridging the linguistic divide between speakers of this language and English.

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...
