Regulation of mRNA translation during mitosis

open access: yeseLife, 2015
Passage through mitosis is driven by precisely-timed changes in transcriptional regulation and protein degradation. However, the importance of translational regulation during mitosis remains poorly understood. Here, using ribosome profiling, we find both

Thinking Outside the Frame: Impacting Genomes Capacity by Programmed Ribosomal Frameshifting

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
Translation facilitates the transfer of the genetic information stored in the genome via messenger RNAs to a functional protein and is therefore one of the most fundamental cellular processes.

Citrullination – small change with a great consequence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Citrullination is one of the possible post-translational modifications of proteins. It is based on a conversion of L-arginine residue (L-Arg) to L-citrulline residue (L-Cit). The reaction is catalyzed by peptidylarginine deiminases (PAD). The change of L-

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Crocodilepox Virus Protein 157 Is an Independently Evolved Inhibitor of Protein Kinase R

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Crocodilepox virus (CRV) belongs to the Poxviridae family and mainly infects hatchling and juvenile Nile crocodiles. Most poxviruses encode inhibitors of the host antiviral protein kinase R (PKR), which is activated by viral double-stranded (ds) RNA ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Post-translational regulation of FOXO [PDF]

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica, 2012
The Forkhead box O (FOXO) family transcription factors play critical roles in a series of cellular processes, including the cell cycle, cell death, metabolism, and oxidative stress resistance. FOXO proteins are subject to several post-translational modifications, which are closely related to their activity.

Kinetic Model of Translational Autoregulation

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate dynamics of a kinetic model of inhibitory autoregulation as exemplified when a protein inhibits its own production by interfering with its messenger RNA, known in molecular biology as translational autoregulation.
