Effects of soil grain size and solution chemistry on the transport of biochar nanoparticles

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2023
Biochar nanoparticles (BC-NP) have attracted significant attention because of their unique environmental behavior, some of which could potentially limit large-scale field application of biochar.

Nucleocytoplasmic Transport [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 1996
Active transport of proteins and RNAs between the nucleus and cytoplasm is a major process in eukaryotic cells. Recently, factors that recognize transport substrates and mediate nuclear import or export have been characterized, revealing interactions that target substrates to the nuclear pore complexes, through which translocation occurs. Translocation

Transport Dynamics in a Glutamate Transporter Homologue [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2013
Glutamate transporters are integral membrane proteins that catalyse neurotransmitter uptake from the synaptic cleft into the cytoplasm of glial cells and neurons. Their mechanism of action involves transitions between extracellular (outward)-facing and intracellular (inward)-facing conformations, whereby substrate binding sites become accessible to ...

Cross-site transportability of an explainable artificial intelligence model for acute kidney injury prediction

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Artificial intelligence (AI) has demonstrated promise in predicting acutekidney injury (AKI), however, clinical adoption of these models requires interpretability and transportability across sites.

Assessing the transportability of clinical prediction models for cognitive impairment using causal models

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2023
Background Machine learning models promise to support diagnostic predictions, but may not perform well in new settings. Selecting the best model for a new setting without available data is challenging.

Airline Baggage Appearance Transportability Detection Based on A Novel Dataset and Sequential Hierarchical Sampling CNN Model

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Self-service bag drop efficiently assists passengers to check-in their baggage in the airport. Nevertheless, the baggage appearance transportability cannot be accurately detected by existing self-service bag drop equipment.

Nitrate transporters and peptide transporters

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2007
In higher plants, two types of nitrate transporters, NRT1 and NRT2, have been identified. In Arabidopsis, there are 53 NRT1 genes and 7 NRT2 genes. NRT2 are high‐affinity nitrate transporters, while most members of the NRT1 family are low‐affinity nitrate transporters.

Transportability and Implementation Challenges of Early Warning Scores for Septic Shock in the ICU: A Perspective on the TREWScore

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
The increased use of electronic health records (EHRs) has improved the availability of routine care data for medical research. Combined with machine learning techniques this has spurred the development of early warning scores (EWSs) in hospitals ...
