Highly controlled optical transport of cold atoms into a hollow-core fiber [PDF]
We report on an efficient and highly controlled cold atom hollow-core fiber interface, suitable for quantum simulation, information, and sensing. The main focus of this manuscript is a detailed study on transporting cold atoms into the fiber using an optical conveyor belt.

Molecular Electronics: electron, spin and thermal transport through molecules [PDF]
This review presents recent results on the physics of electron transport in molecular devices. The review is organized as follows. A brief description of molecular junction (MJ) technology is first given followed by an introduction to the basic physics of electron transport through MJs from DC to about 20 GHz.

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Melatonin Improves Laying Performance by Enhancing Intestinal Amino Acids Transport in Hens
The high concentration of melatonin (MEL) in the intestinal mucosa suggests that it has a special physiological function in intestine. In hens, previous studies have shown that MEL treatment promoted egg-laying performance.

Regularised optimal self-transport is approximate Gaussian mixture maximum likelihood [PDF]
We investigate the link between regularised self-transport problems and maximum likelihood estimation in Gaussian mixture models (GMM). This link suggests that self-transport followed by a clustering technique leads to principled estimators at a reasonable computational cost.

The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

Amino Acid Transporters in Plant Cells: A Brief Review
Amino acids are not only a nitrogen source that can be directly absorbed by plants, but also the major transport form of organic nitrogen in plants. A large number of amino acid transporters have been identified in different plant species.

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

Growth and Overall Health of Patients with SLC13A5 Citrate Transporter Disorder
We were interested in elucidating the non-neurologic health of patients with autosomal recessive SLC13A5 Citrate Transporter (NaCT) Disorder. Multiple variants have been reported that cause a loss of transporter activity, resulting in significant ...
