Hybrid vigour and variability for key growth characters and yield in cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.)

open access: yes, 2020
Hybrid vigour and assessment of genetic variability for important growth characters and yield traits in cashew were studied in eight cashew hybrids. The analysis of variance for the phenotypic data for 12 characters revealed significant variation among ...

GROWTH AND BEARING OF APPLE CULTIVAR ‘ELISE’ ON EIGHTEEN VEGETATIVE ROOTSTOCKS IN “V” PLANTING SYSTEM

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2011
For the intensive planting system production of apple fruit orchard, the ideal tree is one that does not grow too vigorously, presents early and constant bearing, and is able to produce high quality fruits.

Windthrow causes declines in carbohydrate and phenolic concentrations and increased monoterpene emission in Norway spruce.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
With the increasing frequencies of extreme weather events caused by climate change, the risk of forest damage from insect attacks grows. Storms and droughts can damage and weaken trees, reduce tree vigour and defence capacity and thus provide host trees ...

EVALUATION OF SOME PLUM CULTIVARS IN A HIGH DENSITY SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesFruit Growing Research, 2014
Three plum cultivars bred in Romania (‘Carpatin’, ‘Centenar’ and ‘Tita’) were tested together with several standards (‘Cacanska Rodna’ and ‘Stanley’) in a high density experimental orchard established at Pitesti - Maracineni in the spring of 2009, with ...

Isozyme polymorphism to detect genetic diversity of Jatropha curcas (L.) in India

open access: yesAnnals of Tropical Research, 2010
The Indian Government identified as the most suitable tree-borne oilseed for the production of bio-diesel. The species has spread to many parts of India due to its ability to withstand adverse conditions.

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Decoupling vigour and quality in the autumn colours game: weak individuals can signal, cheating can pay

open access: yes, 2008
According to the coevolution theory, autumn colours are a warning signal to insects, signalling the level of chemical defences or availability of nutrients.

PRECOCITY, YIELD AND POSTHARVEST PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF PLUMS RESISTANT TO SHARKA GROWN IN SERBIAN CONDITIONS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2012
The study focused on characterizing the three German plum cultivars (‘Jojo’, ‘Hanita’ and ‘Katinka’) hypersensitive (oversensitiveness) and/or tolerant to Sharka to acknowledge the tree vigour, precocity, yield performances and main physico-chemical ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Plum training systems on vigour rootstocks - experience from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

open access: yes, 2021
An efficient system of plum production implies the application of all measures that will enable the timely achievement of the optimal tree size with the achievement of the initial yield, which is especially important for vigour control.
