Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Effect of cultivar, tree vigour and fruit position on calcium accumulation in avocado fruits [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Horticulturae, 1990
Abstract The seasonal trends of calcium (Ca) in cultivars ‘Fuerte’ and ‘Hass’ avocado fruits from vigorous and non-vigorous trees with little and moderate root infection by Phytophthora cinnamomi , respectively, were studied. The Ca concentration increased in all fruit until 6 weeks after fruit set, but then decreased rapidly until ∼16 weeks.

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Apple cultivars bred in Holovousy. Part 1 - Characteristics of the orchard

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2013
Twenty-one standard apple cultivars bred in Holovousy and registered in the Czech Republic during 1994-2011 were included in a comparative study. Their tree parameters and yields were evaluated from 2004 till 2011 in a comparison to cvs Golden Delicious ...

Impact of pine looper defoliation in Scots pine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Widespread defoliation of forests caused by insects or fungi cause economic losses throughout the world. Successful outbreak management involves cost/benefit estimation and requires knowledge of potential yield losses. Currently, such knowledge is scarce.

Tree vigour influences secondary growth but not responsiveness to climatic variability in Holm oak [PDF]

open access: yesDendrochronologia, 2018
Many tree species from Mediterranean regions have started to show increased rates of crown defoliation, reduced growth, and dieback associated with the increase in temperatures and changes in the frequency and intensity of drought events experienced during the last decades. In this regard, Quercus ilex L. subsp.

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Preliminary evaluation results of new plum cultivars in a dense planting

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2009
Sixteen new plum cultivars mostly bred in Germany were tested together with several standards in a high density experimental orchard established at Holovousy in the spring of 2004 with spacing 5 × 1.5 m. Trees were trained as spindles on St.
