Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

GROWTH AND BEARING OF APPLE CULTIVAR ‘ELISE’ ON EIGHTEEN VEGETATIVE ROOTSTOCKS IN “V” PLANTING SYSTEM

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2011
For the intensive planting system production of apple fruit orchard, the ideal tree is one that does not grow too vigorously, presents early and constant bearing, and is able to produce high quality fruits.

Windthrow causes declines in carbohydrate and phenolic concentrations and increased monoterpene emission in Norway spruce.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
With the increasing frequencies of extreme weather events caused by climate change, the risk of forest damage from insect attacks grows. Storms and droughts can damage and weaken trees, reduce tree vigour and defence capacity and thus provide host trees ...

EVALUATION OF SOME PLUM CULTIVARS IN A HIGH DENSITY SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesFruit Growing Research, 2014
Three plum cultivars bred in Romania (‘Carpatin’, ‘Centenar’ and ‘Tita’) were tested together with several standards (‘Cacanska Rodna’ and ‘Stanley’) in a high density experimental orchard established at Pitesti - Maracineni in the spring of 2009, with ...

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

PRECOCITY, YIELD AND POSTHARVEST PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF PLUMS RESISTANT TO SHARKA GROWN IN SERBIAN CONDITIONS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2012
The study focused on characterizing the three German plum cultivars (‘Jojo’, ‘Hanita’ and ‘Katinka’) hypersensitive (oversensitiveness) and/or tolerant to Sharka to acknowledge the tree vigour, precocity, yield performances and main physico-chemical ...
