INTERACTION OF PERSIAN LIME-ROOTSTOCKS. EFFECT ON LEAF STOMATA CHARACTERISTICS AND TREE VIGOUR
Eleven combinations of rootstock varieties and grafts were carried out with the purpose of evaluating the effect on number and size of stomata, as well as on the stomatal index. These variables were correlated with the height of “Persian” lime plants. The rootstocks, ‘C32’, ‘C35’, ‘Benton’, ‘Carrizo’, ‘Florida’ and ‘Morton’ citranges, ‘Amblicarpa’ and ‘

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Conference pears; work on system changes to enable better scab control in organic orchards in the Netherlands [PDF]
Scab control in Conference pears is the bottleneck in organic growing. A group of growers, advisers and researchers in the Netherlands is working on new approaches to organic pear growing.

Ten clonal dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstocks were evaluated in a trial that was established in the spring of 1999 at Holovousy. Lapins cv. was used as a scion tester for all these rootstocks; five of them were tested also by Regina cv.

Fir-dominated forests in Bavaria, Germany [PDF]
The map of “Regional natural forest composition by main tree species” (WALENTOWSKI et al. 2001) depicts Bavaria as a region largely predominated by the European beech (Fagus sylvatica).

Temporary nutrient deficiency - a difficult case for diagnosis and prognosis by plant analysis [PDF]
Plant analysis aims to either detect deficiency at the time of sampling (diagnosis) or predict its occurrence at a later stage of growth (prognosis). Its use is based on the presumption that the plant nutrient status will either be constant with plant ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.
