Valproate modulates TRH receptor, TRH and TRH-like peptide levels in rat brain

Peptides, 2004
We have tested our hypothesis that alterations in the levels of TRH receptors, and the synthesis and release of tripeptide TRH, and other neurotropic TRH-like peptides mediate some of the mood stabilizing effects of valproate (Valp). We have directly compared the effect of 1 week of feeding two major mood stabilizers, Valp and lithium chloride (LiCl ...

Norvaline2-TRH: binding to TRH receptors in rat brain homogenates

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1990
Norvaline2-thyrotropin-releasing hormone ([Nva2]TRH) has been described as a thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) analog with no thyrotropin (TSH)-releasing capacity but enhanced analeptic activity compared with TRH, as shown by the reversal of haloperidol-induced catalepsy.

Advances in TRH signaling

Reviews in Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, 2016
The activity of the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis (HPT) is coordinated by hypophysiotropic thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) neurons present in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. Hypophysiotropic TRH neurons act as energy sensors. TRH controls the synthesis and release of thyrotropin, which activates the synthesis and secretion of

Enzymic formation of TRH-OH from TRH by rat hypothalamus

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1980
Specific radioimmunoassays for thyrotrophin-releasing hormone (TRH) and deamido-TRH (TRH-OH) were used to investigate the inactivation of TRH by subcellular fractions from rat hypothalamus. TRH-OH was rapidly formed from TRH by an amidase present only in the supernatant fraction at an optimum pH of 7.38; although TRH was degraded by the particulate ...

TRH and TRH Receptors in the Spinal Cord

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1989
Over the past 12 years, substantial progress has been made in delineating the localization of TRH and TRH receptors in spinal cord. High concentrations of both the peptide and its receptor have been observed in the ventral horn in the region of the motoneurons and in the dorsal horn in the substantia gelatinosa. As noted, pharmacological effects of TRH

Activation of the thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) receptor by a direct precursor of TRH, TRH-Gly

Neuroscience Letters, 1995
We studied the mechanism by which thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH)-Gly stimulated prolactin and thyrotropin (TSH) secretion in pituitary, using a pituitary mammotropic cell line, GH3 cells, and a cell line stably expressing a human TRH receptor (TRH-R).

Concentrations of Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone (TRH) and Deamido-TRH, and TRH Deamidase Activity in Brain*

Endocrinology, 1980
Chromatographic evidence for alternative pathways of TRH catabolism in the brain, involving either cleavage of the pGlu-His peptide bond or deamidation to form pGlu-His- Pro (TRH-OH), has been described. In the present study, RIAs for TRH and TRH-OH were used to determine if synthetic TRH is degraded by rodent brain tissue into TRH-OH and to evaluate ...

A radioimmunoassay for thyroliberin (TRH). comparison with a TRH radioreceptor assay

Neuroscience Letters, 1978
A radioimmunoassay (RIA) for thyroliberin (TRH) is described which differs on several points from the previously published ones. A TRH antiserum was raised in rabbits against TRH coupled to a seed-globulin from the sun-flower; [(3)H]TRH was used as radioligand and precipitation of the antibody-antigen complex was achieved with polyethylene glycol (PEG).

ELIMINATION OF TRH IN MAN

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1972
ABSTRACT After injection of 0.2 mg of TRH iv. concentrations of TRH were estimated in plasma, urine and saliva by T3-TRH bioassay in 5 euthyroid men. Plasma TRH was detectable (over 2 ng/ml) for 15 min and had a half-time of 5 min within the first 5 minutes, Urine TRH level was maximal at 15 min and was about 500-fold that in plasma.
