Aryl Silicon Nucleophiles in Bismuth Catalysis
A seminal example of aryl silicon nucleophiles in Bi catalysis is reported, in the context of the synthesis of aromatic fluorinated thiosulfones. The protocol is compatible with a wide range of anionic and neutral Ar‐Si compounds, including heterocycles. Stoichiometric investigations of individual organometallic steps provide strong evidence supporting

Diselenide‐Catalyzed Asymmetric Allenylation of Alkynes
An asymmetric allenylation of alkynes is described using chiral lactamides‐based diselenides under oxidative conditions. This led to the corresponding allenylamides with enantiomeric excesses up to 72%, and uncovers an interesting stereodivergency feature related to the β‐H‐syn‐elimination of transient Se(IV) intermediates.

Metal-Free Trifluoromethylthiolation of Arylazo Sulfones
A visible-light-driven protocol for the synthesis of aryl trifluoromethyl thioethers under photocatalyst- and metal-free conditions has been pursued. The procedure exploits the peculiar properties of arylazo sulfones (having electron-rich or electron-poor substituents on the (hetero)aromatic ring) as photochemical precursors of aryl radicals and S ...
