Triglyceride Glucose Index: As A Glycemic Control Indicator

open access: yesHarran Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi
Background: Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) continues to be the most common endocrine disease today. Easily accessible, accurate and reproducible markers are needed in addition to the accepted markers to evaluate insulin resistance (IR) and glycemic control.

Protection and Delivery of Phytochemicals from Passive Encapsulation to Guaranteed Self‐Assembly Induced by Amyloid Template for Chronic Disease Prevention via Modulating Microbial‐Host Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rising incidence of chronic diseases globally has drawn widespread attention to phytochemicals, which exert targeted preventive and alleviating effect by modulating gut microbiota; thus, a potential strategy for precision nutritional interventions is offered.

Periodontitis Induces B Cell‐Macrophage Crosstalk to Exacerbate Glucose Dysregulation in Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In obesity, periodontitis exacerbates hyperglycemia and exhibits a liver‐centric preference for glucose regulation. This occurs through a periodontitis‐driven circuit between pathogenic B cells and hepatic macrophages. Their reciprocal expansion, orchestrated by the NLRP3/IL‐18 signaling pathway, amplifies metabolic inflammation and disrupts glucose ...

A Functionally Conserved Enhancer is Critical for PGC1A Expression and Thermogenesis in Brown Fat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionarily conserved enhancer controls PGC1A expression and thermogenic activation in brown adipose tissue. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify two BAT‐specific enhancers, with PGC1A‐En1 functioning as the dominant regulatory element that maintains thermogenic capacity across species.

Association of triglyceride-glucose index and its combinations with sarcopenia among community-dwelling older adults: based on the Chongqing Aging and Sarcopenia Evaluation (CHASE) cohort

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
BackgroundThe triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index serves as an alternative index for assessing insulin resistance (IR). The relationship between the TyG index and its combined indicators and sarcopenia remains insufficiently explored.AimTo investigate the ...

The effect of 12 weeks Anethum graveolens (dill) on metabolic markers in patients with metabolic syndrome; A randomized double blind controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: The clustering of metabolic abnormalities defined as metabolic syndrome is now both a public health and a clinical problem .While interest in herbal medicine has greatly increased, lack of human evidence to support efficacies shown in animals

High‐Content SRS Imaging Unveils Altered Cholesterol Metabolism in Ovarian Cancers Under CAR‐T Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐content Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) Imaging reveals that ovarian cancer cells surviving Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) ‐T cell challenge exhibit increased cholesterol esterification. Pharmacological inhibition of this pathway with Avasimibe significantly enhances CAR‐T induced killing of ovarian cancer cells by reducing cancer cell ...

The metabolic syndrome- associated small G protein ARL15 plays a role in adipocyte differentiation and adiponectin secretion. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Common genetic variants at the ARL15 locus are associated with plasma adiponectin, insulin and HDL cholesterol concentrations, obesity, and coronary atherosclerosis.
