Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index combined with C-reactive protein outperforms the TyG index alone in predicting stroke in arthritis patients: a nationwide prospective cohort study

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease
Background Arthritis patients exhibit a higher stroke risk, but effective predictive biomarkers are scarce. This research sought to examine and compare the associations between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, its integration with C-reactive protein

Heat Stress in Quail: Impacts on Health and Productivity, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts physiological homeostasis in quail, inducing oxidative stress, immune dysregulation, and metabolic imbalance, which impair growth, reproduction, product quality, and welfare. Integrating nutritional, environmental, and genetic–epigenetic strategies enhances thermotolerance, sustains productivity, and supports climate‐smart quail ...

Hepatotoxicity of Nonesterified Fatty Acids to Dairy Cows: Pathophysiological Mechanisms and Prospective Solutions

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Unregulated inflammation increases non‐esterified fatty acids (NEFAs), and triggers multi‐pathway hepatocyte damage including oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and metabolic disorders in dairy cows. ABSTRACT Circulating concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids (NEFAs) are elevated due to lipid mobilization from adipose tissue in ...

A Metabolomic Signature Predicts Gout Flare Clinical Outcome Associated With Colchicine Prophylaxis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective This study investigated that serum metabolomics, before urate‐lowering therapy (ULT) initiation, could serve as a biomarker for responsiveness to colchicine prophylaxis in patients with gout commencing treat‐to‐target ULT. Methods We studied a multicenter prospective cohort (n = 409) initiating treat‐to‐target ULT plus colchicine prophylaxis.

Ixekizumab With Tirzepatide Achieved Greater Disease Control Than Ixekizumab Alone in Adults With Psoriatic Arthritis and Overweight or Obesity: Results From a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Overweight or obesity is prevalent in 72% to 82% of individuals with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). We assessed the efficacy and safety of ixekizumab (IXE) concomitantly administered with tirzepatide (TZP) compared with IXE alone in adult participants with active PsA and overweight with at least one weight‐related comorbidity or obesity.

Hemoglobin glycation index and triglyceride-glucose index are related to diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesCirugía y Cirujanos (English Edition)
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a significant complication of diabetes. Despite strict management of fasting plasma glucose (FPG), DN may progress to end-stage renal disease. HbA1c, the best biomarker for glycemic management, may differ in similar FPG. Hemoglobin glycation index (HGI) = HbA1c as determined minus HbA1c as predicted.

Vascular risk factors and diabetic neuropathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Background: Other than glycemic control, there are no treatments for diabetic neuropathy. Thus, identifying potentially modifiable risk factors for neuropathy is crucial.
