Draw solutions of carbonated trimethylamine (TMA–CO2–H2O) have been proven very effective in water recovery via forward osmosis. An experimentally verifiable model, able to accurately predict the properties of TMA–CO2–H2O solutions, is crucial in process design and process control of an integrated forward osmosis process.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between Flavincontaining monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) genotype and dietary FMO3 inhibitors on trimethylamine (TMA)-N content in egg yolks of laying hens. Fishy taint is characteristic for the tertiary amine TMA.

A method for the determination of residual TMA in the bakelite-type macromolecule complex material has been established. The whole process includes sample pretreatment, TMA extraction and GC analysis. After the samples have been pretreated, the TMA in them was extracted at (38 +/- 2) degrees C for 16 hours.

The effect of the gut microbiota metabolite trimethylamine-(TMA) in isolated vessels is unknown yet. Previously TMAO, the hepatic oxidation product of TMA, at 3 mM has been shown to inhibit endothelium-dependent vasorelaxations of isolated arteries only after 24-hour-interactions.
