Summary Highly efficient phosphorus (P)‐use strategies have evolved in plants, allowing them to thrive in severely P‐impoverished environments. However, it remains unclear how allocating leaf P to biochemical fractions, including specific P‐containing metabolites, contributes to instantaneous photosynthetic P‐use efficiency (iPPUE) and the position of ...

Electrophoretic patterns of proteinuria in dogs with Cushing's syndrome
Objectives To describe the electrophoretic pattern of proteinuria in dogs with naturally occurring Cushing's syndrome. We hypothesised that urine protein electrophoresis in dogs with spontaneous Cushing's syndrome will reveal glomerular proteinuria. We also hypothesised that the severity of proteinuria would decrease during treatment with trilostane ...

Summary Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a mycotoxin that disrupts ceramide biosynthesis and kills plants. Prior activation with bacterial microbe‐associated molecular patterns (MAMPs), such as components of bacterial flagella, effectively suppresses FB1‐induced cell death.

Specificity and kinetics of triose phosphate isomerase from chicken muscle [PDF]
The isolation of crystalline triose phosphate isomerase from chicken breast muscle is described. The values of kcat. and Km for the reaction in each direction were determined from experiments over wide substrate-concentration ranges, and the reactions were shown to obey simple Michaelis–Menten kinetics.

Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...

Abstract The nickel‐pincer nucleotide (NPN) cofactor catalyzes the racemization/epimerization of α‐hydroxy acids in enzymes of the LarA family. The established proton‐coupled hydride transfer mechanism requires two catalytic histidine residues that alternately act as general acids and general bases. Notably, however, a fraction of LarA homologs (LarAHs)

Transcriptomics revealed the metabolism of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum during soy milk fermentation. The fermentation of soy milk released aroma compounds and health‐beneficial metabolites. ABSTRACT The fermentation of plant‐based beverages, such as organic and locally produced soy juice (SJ), offers a sustainable way to develop dairy alternatives ...
