Pir, krupnik ili dinkel (Lat. Triticum spelta) jedna je od najstarijih žitarica, a potiče iz Azije. Od brončanog doba do srednjeg vijeka u Europi je bio vrlo važna žitarica međutim, uglavnom je bio zamijenjen drugim vrstama pšenice (Triticum aestivum i Triticum durum).

Cilj ovog rada je prikazatistanje i mogućnosti proizvodnje pira u Republici Hrvatskoj. Heksaploidna pšenica, pir (Triticum spelta L.), zauzima značajno mjesto u grupi alternativnih žitarica, jer zbog svojih bioloških osobina postaje sve interesantnija za uzgoj. Područje uzgoja poklapa se sa područjem uzgoja pšenice.

Pir je izvrstan izbor za ekološku proizvodnju, jer bolje podnosi lošije agroekološke uvjete od pšenice. Cilj ovog rada je opisati ekološku proizvodnju ove kulture (kultivar "Frankenkorn") u agroekološkim uvjetima istočne Slavonije na 40 ha površina obiteljskog gospodarstva-obrta "Klica" iz Ernestinova.

Spelt (Triticum spelta L.) is an ancient cereal that has been cultivated for hundreds of years. Spelt wheat is one of the husked hexaploid wheats which possess the same genomes as bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). It has been very important cereal during the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages in Europe. Spelt is also known as dinkel wheat or hulled wheat.
