Kisspeptins and the placenta: Regulation of trophoblast invasion
Reviews in Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders, 2007The invasion of extravillous trophoblasts into the uterine wall is of crucial importance for placental and fetal development, and its dysregulation has been implicated in a wide spectrum of abnormal pregnancies. Mechanistically, trophoblast invasion strongly resembles the invasion of tumour cells, but differs from it by tight regulation in time and ...

Involvement of PPARγ in Human Trophoblast Invasion
Placenta, 2007The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARgamma) is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily that controls the expression of a large array of genes in a ligand-dependent manner. In the human placenta, PPARgamma is specifically expressed in the villous cytotrophoblast and syncytiotrophoblast as well as in the extravillous ...

Collagen phagocytosis by human extravillous trophoblast: potential role in trophoblastic invasion
Journal of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, 1999To study collagen phagocytosis by human extravillous trophoblast.First-trimester extravillous trophoblastic cell lines and primary trophoblast cell preparations were cultured in vitro with collagen-coated fluorescent latex beads and fluorescent-labeled collagen. Confocal microscopy was used to demonstrate internalization of collagen and beads.
