Increasing Vancomycin Serum Trough Concentrations and Incidence of Nephrotoxicity

The American Journal of Medicine, 2010
conflicting evidence regarding the association of vancomycin serum concentrations with efficacy and toxicity has resulted in controversy regarding optimal target concentrations. Recent publications recommend attaining higher vancomycin trough concentrations of 15 to 20 mg/L for target infections, yet limited research is available assessing the ...

Optics of a two-trough solar concentrator

Solar Energy, 1996
A linear focusing solar concentrator is described that uses two reflecting troughs, one is a large, stationary hemi-cylinder and the other is small and tracks the sun. The small reflector weighs less than a parabolic trough with the same concentrator aperture therefore diurnal steering is more feasible.

Neural Network Predicted Peak and Trough Gentamicin Concentrations

Pharmaceutical Research, 1995
Predictions of steady state peak and trough serum gentamicin concentrations were compared between a traditional population kinetic method using the computer program NONMEM to an empirical approach using neural networks. Predictions were made in 111 patients with peak concentrations between 2.5 and 6.0 micrograms/ml using the patient factors age, height,

Failure of Traditional Trough Levels to Predict Tacrolimus Concentrations

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, 2001
The objective of this study was to estimate tacrolimus population parameter values and to evaluate the ability of the maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) Bayesian fitting procedure to predict tacrolimus blood levels, using the traditional strategy of monitoring only trough levels, for dosage individualization in liver transplant patients.

The Influence of Diltiazem Hydrochloride on Trough Serum Digoxin Concentrations

Drug Intelligence & Clinical Pharmacy, 1986
A significant drug interaction between verapamil and digoxin, resulting in elevated serum digoxin concentrations, has been well documented in the medical literature. However, a similar interaction between digoxin and the calcium channel blockers nifedipine and diltiazem has not been conclusively established.

A Tubeless V-Trough Solar Concentrator

Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 1986
An analytical, experimental investigation of the thermal performance of a tubeless V-trough concentrator has been carried out. Considering the energy balance on the receiver plate, a mathematical expression is developed from which the receiver plate mean temperature can be evaluated for each time interval.

Simple structure for parabolic trough concentrator

Energy Conversion and Management, 1994
simple welded frame structure for parabolic trough concentrators suitable for developing countries is described. Static load tests were conducted on this structure to study its deflection characteristics under various load conditions. The results show that the slope error of the reflector support, corresponding to normal wind loads were found to be ...

Trough Lopinavir Concentrations in Preterm HIV-infected Infants

Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2012
Because of serious adverse effects, the Food and Drug Administration warns against using lopinavir in infants younger than 42 weeks postconception. However, there is an imperative for early treatment. We report on our use of LPV in 8 premature HIV-infected infants. The median age at initiation was 27 days. Trough values guided dosing.
