TRPM3 [TRP (transient receptor potential) melastatin 3] is one of the least investigated proteins of the TRP family of ion channels. Heterologously expressed TRPM3 channels are constitutively active, have an outwardly rectifying current–voltage relationship and are inhibited by intracellular Mg2+ ions.

Molecular basis of neurosteroid and anticonvulsant regulation of TRPM3
Nature Structural & Molecular BiologyTransient receptor potential channel subfamily M member 3 (TRPM3) is a Ca2+-permeable cation channel activated by the neurosteroid pregnenolone sulfate (PregS) or heat, serving as a nociceptor in the peripheral sensory system. Recent discoveries of autosomal dominant neurodevelopmental disorders caused by gain-of-function mutations in TRPM3 highlight ...

Implications of TRPM3 and TRPM8 for sensory neuron sensitisation
Biological ChemistryAbstract Sensory neurons serve to receive and transmit a wide range of information about the conditions of the world around us as well as the external and internal state of our body. Sensitisation of these nerve cells, i.e. becoming more sensitive to stimuli or the emergence or intensification of spontaneous activity, for example in the ...
