Equine trypanosomiasis, a systematic review and meta‐analyses: Prevalence, morbidity and mortality
Abstract Background Equine trypanosomiasis is a neglected protozoal disease. Objectives To perform a systematic search of literature to explore: (1) In equines what is the global geographical distribution and prevalence of trypanosomiasis? In low and middle‐income countries (LMICs) is trypanosomiasis more prevalent than in higher‐income countries (HICs)

Immune Depression in Trypanosoma Congolense-Infected Mice
The capacity of spleen cells from Trypanosoma congolense-infected mice to respond to the mitogens concanavalin A and bacterial lipopolysaccharide and to allogeneic lymphocytes is severely depressed or abolished. Moreover these cells cannot serve as stimulators of DNA synthesis in mixed lymphocyte reactions.

Mechanisms Controlling Anaemia in Trypanosoma congolense Infected Mice
Trypanosoma congolense are extracellular protozoan parasites of the blood stream of artiodactyls and are one of the main constraints on cattle production in Africa. In cattle, anaemia is the key feature of disease and persists after parasitaemia has declined to low or undetectable levels, but treatment to clear the parasites usually resolves the ...

Cytotoxicity and Antimicrobial Activity of GaMF1 Analogs
GaMF1 is a reported, highly potent inhibitor of mycobacterial ATP synthase. Structural modification of this scaffold significantly changes biological activity. We present GaMF1 analogues with strong antiparasitic effects, potential antiproliferative properties, and discuss the selectivity limitations of the parent compound and its analogues.

The structural, functional, and therapeutic potential of metacaspases in fungi and protozoa
Metacaspases are Ca2+‐dependent cysteine proteases whose structural characteristics, particularly calcium binding and autocatalytic processing, govern their activation and biological functions. These enzymes differ among microorganisms and regulate their cell cycles, making them excellent targets for drug development.

Artificial intelligence‐powered microscopy: Transforming the landscape of parasitology
Abstract Microscopy and image analysis play a vital role in parasitology research; they are critical for identifying parasitic organisms and elucidating their complex life cycles. Despite major advancements in imaging and analysis, several challenges remain. These include the integration of interdisciplinary data; information derived from various model

Molecular identification of trypanosome species in trypanotolerant cattle from the south of Gabon
The aim of this study was to provide information on trypanosome species infecting trypanotolerant cattle from southern Gabon. The study was conducted on 224 trypanotolerant cattle from three regions located in southern Gabon, using ITS1 primer-based PCR.

The median PCV of poor body‐conditioned animals is below 20 (anaemic) compared to corresponding body‐condition animals. Black‐ and red‐coloured animals are more significantly affected by trypanosomosis than white‐coloured animals. Multivariable logistic regression revealed more about contributory factors than univariable logistic regression.
