On the occurrence of thioredoxin in Trypanosoma cruzi
The full coding sequence for thioredoxin from Trypanosoma cruzi (TcTRX) strain Tulahuen O has been cloned into the pRSETA vector. The protein was expressed in Escherichia coli with an N-terminal extension of six histidine residues for purification through metal ion chromatography.

Immune complexes in chronic Chagas disease patients are formed by exovesicles from Trypanosoma cruzi carrying the conserved MASP N-terminal region [PDF]
The exovesicles (EVs) are involved in pathologic host-parasite immune associations and have been recently used as biomarkers for diagnosis of infectious diseases.

Histopathologic identification of Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas') encephalitis in an AIDS patient
Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas') encephalitis is an uncommon manifestation of T. cruzi infection, typically seen in immunocompromised patients. Encephalitis results from the reactivation of chronic infection predominately in individuals from endemic areas ...

Endothelial Transmigration by Trypanosoma cruzi
Chagas heart disease, the leading cause of heart failure in Latin America, results from infection with the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. Although T. cruzi disseminates intravascularly, how the parasite contends with the endothelial barrier to escape the bloodstream and infect tissues has not been described. Understanding the interaction between T.

Discrete typing units of Trypanosoma cruzi identified in rural dogs and cats in the humid Argentinean Chaco [PDF]
The discrete typing units (DTUs) of Trypanosoma cruzi that infect domestic dogs and cats have rarely been studied. With this purpose we conducted a cross-sectional xenodiagnostic survey of dog and cat populations residing in 2 infested rural villages in ...

Host-Parasite Interactions in Chagas Disease: Genetically Unidentical Isolates of a Single Trypanosoma cruzi Strain Identified In Vitro via LSSP-PCR. [PDF]
The present study aims at establishing whether the diversity in pathogenesis within a genetically diverse host population infected with a single polyclonal strain of Trypanosoma cruzi is due to selection of specific subpopulations within the strain.
