Synthesis and Chemical Characterization of Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine, Zinc, and Cinnamic Acid Organocomplexes: Potential Drug Candidates for SARS‐CoV‐2 Treatment and Microbial Control

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 27, July 18, 2025.
Zn‐quinolines were synthesized with high yields of 78% and 85%. The study focuses on drug repositioning to improve properties and reduce toxicity for COVID‐19 treatment. New Zn‐based compounds demonstrated antiviral and antimicrobial activities with low toxicity.

The study of trypanosome species circulating in domestic animals in two human African trypanosomiasis foci of Côte d'Ivoire identifies pigs and cattle as potential reservoirs of Trypanosoma brucei gambiense

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2017
Background Important control efforts have led to a significant reduction of the prevalence of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) in Côte d’Ivoire, but the disease is still present in several foci.

Past and Ongoing Tsetse and Animal Trypanosomiasis Control Operations in Five African Countries: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2016
Background Control operations targeting Animal African Trypanosomiasis and its primary vector, the tsetse, were covering approximately 128,000 km2 of Africa in 2001, which is a mere 1.3% of the tsetse infested area. Although extensive trypanosomiasis and

More Timely Response to Outbreaks of Zoonotic Compared to Non‐Zoonotic Diseases in Animals in Tanzania

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
A timeliness metrics analysis study was carried out in Tanzania. A total of 98 disease outbreaks were recorded. The time taken to detect, verify and respond to zoonotic diseases was shorter than the time for non‐zoonotic diseases. More investment should be done for the timely management of disease in Tanzania.

Cutaneous reactions during treatment with Nifurtimox or Benznidazole among Trypanosoma cruzi seropositive adults without symptomatic cardiomyopathy: A safety sub analysis of a placebo‐controlled randomised trial

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, Volume 30, Issue 7, Page 673-684, July 2025.
Abstract Objectives To determine, in a randomised placebo‐controlled trial, if cutaneous adverse reactions during treatment (CARDT) with Benznidazole occur as often as with Nifurtimox, and whether the dose and duration of treatment change that frequency.
