Gasdermin D‐Mediated Pyroptosis Exerts Two Opposite Effects of Resisting Enzymatic Digestion and Expanding Inflammatory Response in Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Gasdermin D (GSDMD)‐induced pyroptosis is associated with inflammatory disease. However, the role of GSDMD in acute pancreatitis (AP) is not yet fully elucidated.

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Versatile Cell Penetrating Peptide for Multimodal CRISPR Gene Editing in Primary Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
CRISPR machinery in diverse molecular formats (DNA, RNA, and ribonucleic protein) is complexed into nanoparticles with the cell‐friendly arginine‐alanine‐leucine‐alanine (RALA) cell‐penetrating peptide. Nanoparticles are delivered to primary mesenchymal stem cells ex vivo or locally in vivo to facilitate multimodal CRISPR gene editing. This RALA‐CRISPR

Characterisation of modified pharmaceutical proteins: the somatropin case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Somatropin, a recombinant protein containing 191 amino acids, is derived from the endogenous human growth hormone, somatotropin [1]. This protein is clinically used in children and adults with inadequate endogenous growth hormone to stimulate a normal ...

Nanodiamond‐Infused Microgels for pH‐Tunable Rheology, Lubrication, and UV Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microgels consisting of swollen polyacrylic acid polymer networks, impregnated with nanodiamonds provide protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation harmful to human health. Nanodiamonds enable UV blockage and control of the rheology (flow) and lubrication (skin‐feel) of these microgel‐skincare‐mimics.
