Enhancement of bile tolerance in lactococci by Tween 80
Journal of Applied Microbiology, 2002The aim of this study is to clarify the effect of Tween 80 on bile tolerance of lactococci.Four out of the six strains of lactococci could grow in broth containing 0.3% bile in the presence of 1% Tween 80, but grew slightly or not at all in the absence of Tween 80.

Immunosuppressive Effects of Tween 80 on Mice
International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology, 2009The effects of Tween 80 on the humoral immune response, as measured by the Jerne plaque assay, was determined. Mice treated with Tween 80 showed a significant depression in the number of primary (IgM) plaques without a significant difference in the number of secondary (IgG) plaques.

Effects of the detergent Tween 80 on Thermomonospora curvata
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1994Tween 80 (0.1%, v/v) added to Thermomonospora curvata growing in minimal medium caused a transient lowering of the dry cell mass, decreased the optimal growth temperature of the thermophile from 62 to 54°C, and increased extracellular esterase activity.

Enhancement of the Antitumor Activity of Adriamycin by Tween 80
Tumori Journal, 1978This paper describes the effect of Tween 80 on the antitumor activity and on the distribution of adriamycin in mice. The dilution of adriamycin in a 10% water solution of Tween 80 produced a significant increase of the antitumor activity in mice against ascites tumors (L1210 leukemia), disseminated leukemias (transplanted leukemias originally induced ...

Interference of the detergent Tween 80 in protein assays
Analytical Biochemistry, 1992The nonionic detergent Tween 80, which has been widely used to stimulate protein secretion in bacterial and fungal systems, caused interferences in three protein determination methods. The OD595 developed in the Coomassie blue dye-binding assay with a variety of purified proteins in the presence of Tween 80 was 1.6 to 3.4 times greater than that ...

The effect of Tween 80 on monochlorobenzene migration in bentonite
Journal of Hazardous MaterialsSeveral studies conducted at industrial sites have documented the infiltration of dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) into clay layers, a phenomenon potentially influenced by the coexistence of chemicals like surfactants in some common pollutants. Bentonite (Ben), monochlorobenzene (MCB), and Tween 80 (T80) were selected as reference components to

Behavioral effects of vehicles: DMSO, ethanol, Tween-20, Tween-80, and emulphor-620
Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 1995Experimental drugs and compounds that do not easily dissolve in water or saline are frequently combined with vehicles like solvents, detergents, or vegetable oils. Yet very little has been reported on the behavioral effects of vehicles. In this study, we assessed the effects of a vegetable oil (emulphor-620), two detergents (Tween-20 and Tween-80), and

Effect of tween 80 on protein-tannic acid complex

Sorption of a nonionic surfactant Tween 80 by minerals and soils
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2015Batch experiments were conducted to evaluate Tween 80 sorption by oxides, aluminosilicates, and soils. For oxides, the sorption by silica and alumina follow linear isotherms, and that by hematite follows a Langmuir isotherm. Considering isotherm type and surface coverage, Tween 80 may partition into the silica/alumina-water interface, whereas it may ...
