Optimizing novasomes: impact of oleic acid and co-surfactant ratio on posaconazole delivery: In vitro & Ex vivo pharmacokinetic study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Pharmaceutical Research
Background: Posaconazole, currently available as a solid oral dosage form, possesses erratic pharmacokinetics that complicate dosing regimens and increase the risk of adverse effects and drug interactions. Hence, innovative strategies, especially topical

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

New Biopolymer Nanoparticles Improve the Solubility of Lipophilic Megestrol Acetate

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
As many substances are poorly soluble in water and thus possess decreased bioavailability, creating orally administered forms of these substances is a challenge.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Chemical and Theoretical Studies for Corrosion Inhibition of Magnesium in Hydrochloric Acid by Tween 80 Surfactant

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2015
The aim of this paper is to study the corrosion inhibition of magnesium in hydrochloric acid by using tween 80 surfactant. The inhibition action of tween 80 was studied using hydrogen evolution and weight loss methods.

Evaluating the involvement of autolysosomes in the nuclear translocation of fluorescent proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Endogenously expressed fluorescent proteins can be degraded by autophagy and transported to cell nuclei via the nuclear pore complex. But in some cell lines, for example, HeLa cells which are positive for immunoreactivity of a receptor ligand, such as UCN I, in cell nuclei, fusion of autolysosome with the nuclear envelope is involved in the nuclear ...

Stability studies of silymarin nanoemulsion containing Tween 80 as a surfactant

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2015
Background: Silymarin, a flavonolignan from "milk thistle" (Silybum marianum) plant is used almost exclusively for hepatoprotection. Because of its low bioavailability, it was incorporated into a nanoemulsion formulation. The aim of the present study was

Treatment with KCL‐286, a first‐in‐class retinoic acid receptor‐β (RARβ) agonist, ameliorates neuronal DNA damage and inflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Preparation of Tween 80-Zn/Al-Levodopa-Layered Double Hydroxides Nanocomposite for Drug Delivery System

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
We incorporated anti-Parkinsonian drug, levodopa (dopa), in Zn/Al-LDH by coprecipitation method to form dopa-LDH nanocomposite. Further coating of Tween-80 on the external surfaces of dopa-LDH nanocomposite was achieved through the oxygen of C=O group of
