Twin-screw melt granulation for high-dose paracetamol tablets

open access: yesRPS Pharmacy and Pharmacology Reports, 2023
Abstract Objectives In this study twin-screw melt granulation (TSMG) was used to produce sustained release formulations and improve the poor compressibility of paracetamol (PMOL). Methods By using various amounts of polyethylene ...

How Does the Dissimilarity of Screw Geometry Impact Twin-screw Melt Granulation?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2021
Using a model formulation of 80% gabapentin and 20% hydroxypropyl cellulose (KlucelTM), we investigate how differences in the geometry of mixing elements in the Leistritz Nano-16 and Micro-18 extruders affect granulation mechanisms and the properties of the resulting granules.

Downstream processing from melt granulation towards tablets: In-depth analysis of a continuous twin-screw melt granulation process using polymeric binders [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, 2018
The concept of twin-screw melt granulation (TSMG) has steadily (re)-gained interest in pharmaceutical formulation development as an intermediate step during tablet manufacturing. However, to be considered as a viable processing option for solid oral dosage forms there is a need to understand all critical sources of variability which could affect this ...

Continuous twin-screw melt granulation of drug-loaded electrospun fibers

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics
Electrospinning (ES) is a promising continuous formulation strategy to produce amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) and thereby improve the dissolution of poorly water-soluble drugs. However, processing the electrospun material into solid dosage forms (e.g. tablets) is challenging due to the poor flow properties.

Scaling of Planar Sodium‐Nickel Chloride Battery Cells to 90 cm2 Active Area

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
Large planar Na β′′ alumina electrolytes are prepared by tape‐casting and die‐pressing. These ceramic electrolytes are used to prepare planar sodium‐nickel chloride cells with 90 cm2 active area, providing a high capacity of 7 Ah. Successful cell cycling is demonstrated at 300 °C at rates up to C/4 (20 mA cm−2) for a cumulative capacity of 3.6 Ah cm−2.
