Proteomics of the ripening of blackberry fruits (Rubus sp.) grown in México, a first approach [PDF]

open access: yesRa Ximhai, 2012
Blackberry production in Mexico has increased 200 % in the last decade. The main varieties used have been introduced from other countries, and its establishment under the climatic conditions of México has required considerable adaptations to the ...

Reconstitution of recombination-associated DNA synthesis with human proteins. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The repair of DNA breaks by homologous recombination is a high-fidelity process, necessary for the maintenance of genome integrity. Thus, DNA synthesis associated with recombinational repair must be largely error-free.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Electrophoresis-Based Proteomic Meat Animal Research

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2012
In this review, some of the limitations and issues related to current popular proteomic approaches will be discussed and a case will be made for the benefits of using one-dimensional electrophoresis-based proteomics for agricultural study setups.

Towards the Full Realization of 2DE Power

open access: yesProteomes, 2016
Here, approaches that allow disclosure of the information hidden inside and outside of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) are described. Experimental identification methods, such as mass spectrometry of high resolution and sensitivity (MALDI-TOF ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Proteome Analysis of the Plant Pathogenic Fungus Monilinia laxa Showing Host Specificity

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2012
Brown rot fungus Monilinia laxa (Aderh. & Ruhl.) Honey is an important plant pathogen in stone and pome fruits in Europe. We applied a proteomic approach in a study of M. laxa isolates obtained from apples and apricots in order to show the host specifity

Changes in the proteomic profile of blood serum in coronary atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2020
Background: Our aim was to study changes in the serum proteomic profile in coronary atherosclerosis. Methods: The study involved two groups of patients: 1) men with coronary heart disease and coronary atherosclerosis (n = 15); 2) control (n = 15): men ...

Alterations of the mitochondrial proteome caused by the absence of mitochondrial DNA: A proteomic view [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The proper functioning of mitochondria requires that both the mitochondrial and the nuclear genome are functional. To investigate the importance of the mitochondrial genome, which encodes only 13 subunits of the respiratory complexes, the mitochondrial ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.
