N,N’‐Diaryl‐Sulfurdiimides are Strongly Redox Tuned

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 26, May 8, 2024.
A series of 4‐ and 2,4,6‐substituted diaryl sulfur diimides induce a large dependence on redox properties, such as the one‐electron reduction CV waves shown here, that correlate linearly with the redox MO energies. One‐electron transfers are confirmed using in situ EPR spectroscopy, identifying radical anions that have longer lifetimes the more ...

Direct Analysis of Spectra of Type Ib Supernovae [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2002
Synthetic spectra generated with the parameterized supernova synthetic-spectrum code SYNOW are compared to photospheric-phase spectra of Type Ib supernovae (SNe Ib). Although the synthetic spectra are based on many simplifying approximations, including spherical symmetry, they account well for the observed spectra.

A Search for Extragalactic Fast Blue Optical Transients in ZTF and the Rate of AT2018cow-like Transients

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present a search for extragalactic fast blue optical transients (FBOTs) during Phase I of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF). We identify 38 candidates with durations above half-maximum light 1 day < t _1/2 < 12 days, of which 28 have blue ( g − r ≲ −

A White Dwarf Merger Paradigm for Supernovae and Gamma-Ray Bursts

open access: yes, 2003
Gamma-ray bursts can appear to be a hundred times as luminous as supernovae, but their underlying energy source(s) have remained a mystery. However, there has been evidence for some time now of an association of gamma-ray bursts with supernovae of Type ...

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence Au‐Ag‐oxo nanoclusters: From photoluminescence to radioluminescence

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 5, Issue 2, April 2024.
Au18Ag26 nanoclusters are the largest Au‐Ag‐oxo nanoclusters reported to date, showcasing remarkable TADF characteristics. Strong π⋯π interactions from aromatic alkynyl ligands and O2−‐induced metal aggregation contribute to their outstanding photoluminescence.

Optical and Radio Analysis of Systematically Classified Broad-lined Type Ic Supernovae from the Zwicky Transient Facility

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We study a magnitude-limited sample of 36 broad-lined type Ic supernovae (SNe Ic-BL) from the Zwicky Transient Facility Bright Transient Survey (detected between 2018 March and 2021 August), which is the largest systematic study of SNe Ic-BL done in ...

Low frequency radio and X-ray properties of core-collapse supernovae

open access: yes, 2003
Radio and X-ray studies of young supernovae probe the interaction between the supernova shock waves and the surrounding medium and give clues to the nature and past of the progenitor star.

One‐dimensional molecular co‐crystal alloys capable of full‐color emission for low‐loss optical waveguide and optical logic gate

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 5, Issue 1, February 2024.
By using a molecular organic alloys (MCAs) strategy, several MCAs are prepared through tuning the stoichiometric ratio of pyrene and fluoranthene. Multiple energy level structure and Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) endow materials with tunable emission.

PTF 12gzk—A RAPIDLY DECLINING, HIGH-VELOCITY TYPE Ic RADIO SUPERNOVA [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2013
Only a few cases of type Ic supernovae (SNe) with high-velocity ejecta have been discovered and studied. Here we present our analysis of radio and X-ray observations of a Type Ic SN, PTF12gzk. The radio emission rapidly declined less than 10 days after explosion, suggesting SN ejecta expanding at high velocity (~0.3c). The radio data also indicate that

Near-infrared Spectral Properties of Type Ib/Ic Supernova Progenitors and Implications for JWST and NGRST Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
While about 20 type II supernova (SN II) progenitors have been identified using optical data from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), direct detection of type Ib/Ic supernova (SN Ib/Ic) progenitors remains challenging, due to their faint optical brightness
