Radiative Transfer Modeling of Stripped-envelope Supernovae. I. A Grid for Ejecta Parameter Inference

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present 1800 multiwavelength Type Ib/c supernovae light-curve models obtained by running the radiation transport code Sedona and varying the mass distribution, velocity profile, and abundance ejecta profiles of helium star progenitors.

SN 2010jl in UGC 5189: Yet another luminous type IIn supernova in a metal-poor galaxy

open access: yes, 2011
We present ASAS data starting 25 days before the discovery of the recent type IIn SN 2010jl, and we compare its light curve to other luminous IIn SNe, showing that it is a luminous (M_I ~ -20.5) event.

Type Ibc supernovae in disturbed galaxies: evidence for a top-heavy IMF

open access: yes, 2010
We compare the radial locations of 178 core-collapse supernovae to the R-band and H alpha light distributions of their host galaxies. When the galaxies are split into `disturbed' and `undisturbed' categories, a striking difference emerges.

Exclusion of a Direct Progenitor Detection for the Type Ic SN 2017ein Based on Late-time Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
To date, SN 2017ein is the only Type Ic supernova with a directly identified progenitor candidate. This candidate points to a very massive (>45 M _⊙ ) Wolf–Rayet (WR) progenitor, but its disappearance after the explosion of SN 2017ein remains unconfirmed.

The broad-lined type Ic supernova 2003jd

open access: yes, 2008
The results of a worldwide coordinated observational campaign on the broad-lined Type Ic supernova (SN Ic) 2003jd are presented. In total, 74 photometric data points and 26 spectra were collected using 11 different telescopes. SN 2003jd is one of the most luminous SN Ic ever observed. A comparison with other Type Ic supernovae (SNe Ic) confirms that SN

Unifying the Circumstellar Environment in Broad-lined Type Ic Radio Supernovae toward Off-axis Gamma-Ray Burst Exploration

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Decades have passed since the first confirmed association between a broad-lined Type Ic supernova (Type IcBL SN) and a long gamma-ray burst (GRB), and the number of known GRB-SN associations has steadily increased.

EP250108a/SN 2025kg: A Jet-driven Stellar Explosion Interacting with Circumstellar Material

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present optical, radio, and X-ray observations of EP250108a/SN 2025kg, a broad-line Type Ic supernova (SN Ic-BL) accompanying an Einstein Probe (EP) fast X-ray transient at z = 0.176.

Late Jets, Early Sparks: Illuminating the Premaximum Bumps in Superluminous Supernovae

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Superluminous supernovae (SLSNe) radiate ≳10–100 times more energy than ordinary stellar explosions, implicating a novel power source behind these enigmatic events.

The Absolute Rate of LGRB Formation

open access: yes, 2015
We estimate the LGRB progenitor rate using our recent work on the effects of environmental metallically on LGRB formation in concert with SNe statistics via an approach patterned loosely off the Drake equation.

A Search for Successful and Choked Jets in Nearby Broad-lined Type Ic Supernovae

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The observational link between long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and broad-lined stripped-envelope core-collapse supernovae (SNe Ic-BL) is well established. Significant progress has been made in constraining what fraction of SNe Ic-BL may power high- or low ...
