Identification of an Alkylhydroquinone from Rhus succedanea as an Inhibitor of Tyrosinase and Melanogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009
The alkylhydroquinone 10'(Z)-heptadecenylhydroquinone [HQ17( 1)], isolated from the sap of the lacquer tree Rhus succedanea, was found to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase and to suppress melanin production in animal cells.

Recent advances in triazoles as tyrosinase inhibitors

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2023
The tyrosinase enzyme, which is widely found in microorganisms, animals and plants, has a significant position in melanogenesis, plays an important role in undesirable browning of fruits and vegetables, antibiotic resistance, skin pigment formation, sclerotization of cuticle, neurodegeneration, etc. Therefore, with the wide potential application fields

Thiosemicarbazones as inhibitors of tyrosinase enzyme

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2017
In the search for compounds which may inhibit the development of melanomas, a series of thiosemicarbazones has been investigated as possible inhibitors of the tyrosinase enzyme. The results showed that all the thiosemicarbazones tested exhibited significant inhibitory effects on the enzyme.

Prenylated flavonoids as tyrosinase inhibitors

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2004
In order to find new tyrosinase inhibitors and the effects of prenyl residue on flavonoid molecules, eight prenylated and three synthetic vinylated flavonoids were examined on their inhibitory effect against tyrosinase activity. From the results, kuwanon C, papyriflavonol A, sanggenon D and sophoflavescenol were found to possess the considerable ...

Tyrosinase inhibitors as potential antibacterial agents

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Tyrosinase is a copper-containing enzyme that catalyzes the biosynthesis of melanin. This enzyme is present in bacteria, fungi, plants and animals, and plays multiple roles in pigmentation, wound healing, radiation protection, primary immune responses and the undesirable browning of fruits and vegetables.

Tyrosinase and Tyrosinase Inhibitors

Journal of Biocatalysis & Biotransformation, 2012
Tyrosinase and Tyrosinase Inhibitors Melanin is responsible for skin color and plays an important role in protection of the skin against UV light induced damage. During the melanin biosynthesis pathway, tyrosinase (EC 1.14.18.1) is the rate-limiting enzyme that hydroxylates L-tyrosine to L-3,4- dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA), and L-DOPA is further ...

New halogenated phenylcoumarins as tyrosinase inhibitors

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2011
With the aim to find out structural features for the tyrosinase inhibitory activity, in the present communication we report the synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of a new series of phenylcoumarin derivatives with different number of hydroxyl or ether groups and bromo substituent in the scaffold.

Inhibitors of Tyrosinase

Journal of Experimental Biology, 1955
ABSTRACT It has been reported that if Drosophila larvae are ground to a fine paste with sand, the homogenate shows little tyrosinase activity, but that if the larvae are allowed to blacken in chloroform vapour before grinding, activity is increased.
