A novel protein isoform of the RON tyrosine kinase receptor transforms human pancreatic duct epithelial cells. [PDF]
The MST1R gene is overexpressed in pancreatic cancer producing elevated levels of the RON tyrosine kinase receptor protein. While mutations in MST1R are rare, alternative splice variants have been previously reported in epithelial cancers.

Tyrosine Metabolism in Melanoma [PDF]
THE urine in patients with generalized melanoma contains substances which cause its dark colour when exposed to air—urinary melanogens1,2, of which there are two types3: (1) nitrogen melanogens, insoluble in ether or ethylacetate, giving a positive Thormahlen test4–6—indole melanogens, as they are called, and (2) non-nitrogen melanogens, soluble in ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

Serum tyrosine increases all-cause mortality in an older population
PurposeAmino acids play crucial roles in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, especially branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, but their association with mortality remains understudied and inconclusive.

Background The homogentisic acid‐lowering therapy nitisinone is being evaluated for the treatment of alkaptonuria (AKU) at the National Centre for AKU. Beyond hypertyrosinemia, the wider metabolic consequences of its use are largely unknown.

Angubindin‐1 binds angulin‐1/‐3 at tricellular tight junctions, enhancing intestinal macromolecule permeation. Alanine scanning identified six essential residues (L562, L598, E638, V640, Y643, and K644) of angubindin‐1 critical for binding to angulin‐1/‐3 and permeation‐enhancing activity, providing insights for the development of targeted noninvasive ...

Hawkinsinuria With Direct Hyperbilirubinemia in Egyptian-Lebanese Boy
Tyrosinemia type III is the rarest type of tyrosinemia, because of a mutation in 4-OH-phenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPD). This causes two different types of diseases with different modes of inheritance: tyrosinemia type III and hawkinsinuria. Hawkinsinuria
