Transcriptional and translational signals of the uidA gene in Escherichia coli K12

Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 1987
The expression of uidA is negatively controlled by the products of the uidR and uxuR genes and is sensitive to catabolite repression. The locations of the transcriptional and translational signals of uidA were determined using lac gene fusions and S1 mapping experiments.

Characterization of alkaline phosphatase labeled UidA(Gus) probe and its application in testing of transgenic tritordeum

Molecular Biology Reports, 2010
Hybridization is a very important molecular biology technique to measure the degree of genetic similarity between DNA sequences, and detect the foreign genes in transgenic organisms. To label a DNA or RNA probe plays a key role in hybridization. A method using nonradioactive material alkaline phosphatase to label UidA(Gus) DNA as probe has been studied.

Biolistic transfer and expression of a uidA reporter gene in different tissues of Allium sativum L.

Plant Cell Reports, 1998
The biolistic particle delivery system was used to transfer the uidA gene into different garlic tissues, including regenerable calli. These tissues showed a high endogenous nuclease activity preventing exogenous DNA expression. After submerging the tissues for 24 h in a 2 mM solution of the nuclease inhibitor aurintricarboxylic acid, transient ...

Inheritance of tissue-specific expression of barley hordein promoter-uidA fusions in transgenic barley plants

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1999
Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) hordeins are alcohol-soluble redundant storage proteins that accumulate in protein bodies of the starchy endosperm during seed development. Strong endosperm-specific β-glucuronidase gene-(uidA; gus) expression driven by B1- and D-hordein promoters was observed in stably transformed barley plants co-transformed with the ...

Plasmids with the uidA reporter gene for the detection of promoters and transcription signals

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1988
We have constructed promoter-probe plasmids, pNB4 and pNB5, based on the promoterless gene for beta-glucuronidase (uidA) of Escherichia coli. Unique restriction sites for EcoRI, SacI, KpnI, SmaI, XmaI, XbaI, SalI, SphI and HindIII in pNB4 and for HindIII, PstI and BglII in pNB5 were included upstream of the uidA structural gene. The usefulness of these

Long-term gus expression from Gladiolus callus lines containing either a bar-uidA fusion gene or bar and uidA delivered on separate plasmids

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture (PCTOC), 2009
Gus expression was determined for 19 lines of embryogenic Gladiolus callus that contained the 35S-bar-uidA-nos fusion gene and for 21 callus lines that had been cobombarded with the 35S-bar-nos and 35S-uidA-nos plasmid DNAs. These lines were selected for analysis because they grew vigorously on Murashige and Skoog’s medium supplemented with 6 mg l−1 ...
