Acquisition of a collection of Lycopersicon pennellii (Corr. D'Arcy) transgenic plants with uidA and nptII marker genes

The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology, 1999
SummaryThis paper describes an efficient protocol for in vitro regeneration and genetic transformation from leaf explants of L. pennellii (Corr. D'Arcy). Shoot organogenesis was achieved on media with different combinations of indole-acetic acid (IAA) and kinetin (K). Regeneration ratios ranged from 50 to 90%.

Histochemical and fluorometric assays for uidA (GUS) gene detection.

Methods in molecular biology (Clifton, N.J.), 2004
Transgenic plant production has been intimately connected to the beta-glucuronidase (uidA or GUS) gene used as a reporter marker gene. The enzyme stability and the high sensitivity and amenability of the GUS assay to qualitative (histochemical assay) and to quantitative (fluorometric or spectrophotometric assay) detection are some of the reasons that ...

Expression of HMW Subunit, γ-Zein and uidA Genes in Endosperms of Transgenic Bread Wheat

2001
Transformation allows the production of wheat plants with specific differences in their gluten structure, by the introduction of additional genes for wild type or mutant proteins Similarly, genes from other species can also be inserted, such as those for the γ-zein proteins which are associated with hard endosperm texture in maize.

Genetic analysis of uidA expression in enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7.

Microbiology (Reading, England), 1994
Isolates of enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7 do not exhibit beta-glucuronidase (GUD) activity; however, they carry nucleotide sequences for the uidA gene that encodes the GUD enzyme. Polymerase chain reaction analysis using uidA-specific primers confirmed that a genetic region homologous in size to the E.
