Cilia protein IFT88 regulates extracellular protease activity by optimizing LRP‐1–mediated endocytosis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 32, Issue 12, Page 6771-6782, December 2018., 2018
ABSTRACT Matrix protease activity is fundamental to developmental tissue patterning and remains influential in adult homeostasis. In cartilage, the principal matrix proteoglycan is aggrecan, the protease‐mediated catabolism of which defines arthritis; however, the pathophysiologic mechanisms that drive aberrant aggrecanolytic activity remain unclear ...

Diallyl Trisulfide From Garlic Regulates RAB18 Phase Separation to Inhibit Lipophagy and Induce Cuproptosis in Hepatic Stellate Cells for Antifibrotic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 21, June 5, 2025.
Diallyl trisulfides (DATs) selectively induce cuproptosis in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) by targeting Ras‐related protein Rab‐18 (RAB18) and regulating lipophagy. DATs promote RAB18 phase separation, enhance mitochondrial‐associated membrane structures (MAMs) formation, and increase succinylation of dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (DLD) at K320.
